I think I have some frozen Super-XX sheet film, probably 40 years exp.

Totally agree but should we be batching about more film instead of lessI totally agree. At that price it makes Ilford HP5+ look like chicken feed, cost wise. Rate HP5+ at an EI of 250 and I bet one would be just as happy. Plus, you'd still have some change left over to jiggle in your pocket. I refuse to pay inflated prices for any film just because it's a little "different". It has to do something really special for me to reach for my wallet. Something like Fuji Acros 100 for its reciprocity advantage. Now the extra cost becomes worth it. Just my Dutch opinion......................JohnW
Is the 70mm perforated?? That would be fun in my Hasselblad. Where do you get short or even 400' rolls of this stuff??Short end or recans in 100 foot rolls for bulk loading. Or I get in 400 foot rolls and break down in a dark room. No big deal. As for 120, I already cut my own 70mm down to 120 and roll into backing paper. There are ways to do this whole thing in a very thrifty way.
Yes, after rereading my input I guess I do sound like I'm batching. I'm sorry! I welcome any new film as well, but some of these "so called" new films are really nothing new. I just hope the market doesn't get so saturated with film makers/re-branders that it drags all of them down in there profits so as to make them think about all there film lines or worse. The last "new" film I tried was Bergger Pancro 400 in 120. I really like they way this film handles some scenes compared to HP5+ and I really, really like HP5+. In fact I even went back for more. Like I said, I hope sales are high enough to keep this emulsion going. We'll see I guess? JohnWTotally agree but should we be batching about more film instead of less
I'm not in the film of the week club so I'll use the knowns...trix tmy400 fp4 and acros

Amen$12 a roll at Freestyle. Yikes. I don't think I'll be buying any.
Cinestill have launched BwXX in 120 format.
Aka kodak double X 5222. Previously only in 135.

Well 65mm camera negative is printed on 70mm print film for projection, so I guess the convinced Kodak to cut this film in 70mm?So Kodak makes 65mm movie film, which I read on the internet is "65mm for the image and 5mm for the sound" thus miraculously 65mm motion picture film becomes 70mm still film. Makes sense.
Now I'm interested.
I need to buy a roll of the Ilford HP5 70mm.
After two days, no answers? Not even speculation? Is this a custom packaging by Eastman Kodak for CineStill? Made and finished in Rochester? Also, what base is it on? I find no detail about that in the links.
Made in Rochester for sure, but finishing I don't know. The spools looks more like Foma/Ilford (and former Agfa) than Kodak to me.After two days, no answers? Not even speculation?![]()
I have just found a video on it, made yesterday. The presenter has what was a novel approach for me which may simply be the "newcomer to film " way of doings things but he says it is a great film and he has got 166K subscribers which is a lot of people. Out of interest does anybody on this thread subscribe?. No mention of price but to be fair he got 3 rolls for nothing, compliments of Cinestill. I wondered why he'd been chosen but that's not really relevant.
I can only hope I have got the video to the Photrio community in time
P.S. I admit I did jump bits

I ordered 50 units for my store. It should be in my hands early-mid next week.

I had not even spotted this but while I load my film before leaving the house as well I don't see a problem with waiting until you get to where you want to start shooting as long as you can load the film OK when you are there. Sometimes if you shoot more than one film you have to load "in situ" anywayNot just this video, but it seems that almost all youtubers load their cameras when they get to the destination. Am I the only one that loads my cameras before I head out the door?
I hope you will be testing it and sharing the results as you have with many other films.I ordered 50 units for my store. It should be in my hands early-mid next week.

It was what he didn't say that puzzled me. Frankly given the price of it I was very surprised that no mention was made by way of information on price, nor what made it a great film even at its price
In fact he said almost nothing in the way of concrete information in about 14 mins that I'd have thought potential users would want to know. Maybe that's a skill in itself. Yet to his vast number of subscribers, 166 thousand of them, he must be doing a lot right in their eyes.
I seriously and honestly wonder what his attraction can be to 166 thousand subscribers. Gregg Davis, the Naked Photographer has just over 9 thousand by comparison
Anyway I digress from the thread but there has to be something about it that warrants its price v current Ilford, Foma, Adox film. What that is in terms of its pluses versus the other films mentioned I have yet to find out. This bit remains a genuine search on my part but it may be early days for the likes of a Gregg Davis comparison

It's all the same width. 65 is 70 with room for magnetic strips for sound.Well 65mm camera negative is printed on 70mm print film for projection, so I guess the convinced Kodak to cut this film in 70mm?
It was the cinematographer. Sure we helped pick the filter he’d need but putting a filter on a camera isn’t the same as coming up with the image of a ceramic mermaid in seaweed who might be alive in need of help.Yes, that film had a spectacular look. But I believe that came from the filtration.
