... Reading that 14 year old exchange will hopefully preclude needing to repeat it in this thread.

ADOX Fotoimpex said this in another thread last week:

CHS 100 type II is on it´s way to Freestyle but the next coating has to be done on the new machine already and supplies might not last until then.
So don´t buy to many

Still not available at Freestyle in 120...but why is the 35mm size so EXPENSIVE?

Here in Europe only Euro 4.20 ex VAT (= USD 4.70): not expensive?

Here at Freestyle, 36 exposures of Adox CHS II is $8.99
For comparison, Freestyle sell 36 exposures of Kodak Tri-X is $5.39 , Kodak TMY-2 is $5.75 , Ilford FP4+ is $6.99, Kentmere 100 is $4.89, Fomapan 100 is $4.29

It is the most expensive medium speed general purpose 35mm 36 exposure film available. Only a handful of special purpose films are more expensive (e.g. Ilford SFX 200, Ilford Delta 3200 and Rollei 25)

So, yeah, as good as it is, the Adox CHS 100 II is not competitively priced here in the US market.

That doesn't tell the whole story either because Kodak, Ilford and Foma-branded Foma are all less still from B&H but only Freestyle imports Adox.

Buy it direct. Much cheaper, Freestyle is overpriced.

Ok. Just checked what it would cost for 10 rolls direct from Fotoimpex. The cost is: 10 * 4.20 euros + 35 euros for shipping for a total of 77 euros for ten rolls...about 86USD.

EDIT: Interestingly, if I order 100 rools the shipping is still 35 euro which works out to be just 4.55 euro (~5.10USD) per roll.

Sorry but, $8.60 per roll direct from FotoImpex...is not much cheaper than 8.99USD from the local source and is still not competitively priced. Not to mention that if I order it from Freestyle it'll be on my doorstep in two days.

You prompted me to look and perhaps make a purchase. Currently the 120 is out of stock. It says more will arrive 06.10.2015, which I misinterpreted for a second but of course it means October.

Edit: I understand you meant 135 film... Just that reading your post got me to see what 120 would cost shipped from Europe.

When this announcement first came out, I compared the spectral response of CHS 100 with Fuji Neopan Acros 100 on their respective data sheets. They are fairly similar.... I like the response of acros without a filter: there is some tone in blue sky, definition in clouds, and it is just great the way different green colors separate out. I'm looking forward to trying CHS 100, maybe it will have a more "old fashioned" look with a similar spectral response...

Yes, you definitely have to order a fair bit of any particular film for the shipping to work in your favor. Certainly for the 8x10 CHS 100 II is doesn't take that much. I'm looking forward to trying the 120 when it's back in stock. Just ordered 3 boxes of 14x17. Typically it takes about 3 weeks for the film to show up.

Freestyle has it in 120 now.
It's about $9.50 per roll.

I've been looking forward to trying it, so I ordered 5 rolls.
Add about $7 shipping and about $3.50 tax, and the total was exactly $58.

So $11.60 per roll after tax and shipping.
I didn't check Fotoimpex first because I figured shipping from Europe would overwhelm any savings on just 5 rolls.
Hopefully I won't waste too much dialing in the development times!

Mine is finally loaded in the camera and ready to use! I'm fighting off a bad cold and not sure I'll get out this weekend, but if I do I'll start using it.

I've just developed my two first rolls of CHS 100 II in 120, the negatives looks fine but there are no edge markings on either roll.

Is this normal?
No it´s not. The bulb in the edge marking drum must have burned out. We will try to figure out a way to watch on this. Like a sensor hooked up to an alarm if there is no light on. Thanks for bringing this up.

Does anyone know the plans for making this film? I'd like to get some more.

Freestyle: "product not currently avialable"
B&H: "Back-ordered"
FotoImpex: "Sold Out"

None of these sites have any date when more might become available.

As I understand, its coating is being shifted over to Fotoimpex's own coating facilities, so it'll presumably appear when they're happy that the quality is up to standard.

I asked Fotoimpex a few weeks ago, and they said:

"at the moment we don´t have informations regarding the CHS 100 II
production.

We hope that we are able to bring this series back in the end of 2017."

I think they work according to the rule that wonders are fixed over the day but miracles may have to wait a few months. Rebuilding their Baad Sarov site to double the surface at the same time as they are tuning in the new coating machine and keep Fotoimpex going as a shop can be regarded as a miracle work.
I am patiently waiting.
