Christmas cameras, anyone?

Not a single thing...but I did find a Yashica Lynx 5000E on eBay that I managed to snag for a pittance. It should be here by week's end. And I had just purchased a Mamiya 80mm f/1.9 for myself earlier in the month. I am dying to attach it to the 1000s this very afternoon for some post holiday portraits.

I got a Minolta 800si and grip, and a Konica FT-1 Motor with left-hand actuator. Be neat if I was left-handed.

What all did Santa bring you?

I also have a Maxxum 800si and grip. It's a nice camera, with features you don't find on entry-level DSLRs. It has a tendency to underexpose by .5 stop in some situations. The AEL and "P" reset are very handy. I bought myself a Mamiya 80mm f4 macro for my ProTL. My wife said that was my x-mas present. I wish the Bessa III would have been ready for x-mas.

No cameras, but I got 3 rolls of 120 Ilford SFX, a Paterson Multi-Reel 3 tank that will hold 2 rolls of 120, and cash. I'm deciding how I'm going to blow that. My latest temptation is that I'm wanting a pentax 645 to throw in my back pack while I'm out on cross country skis. Or I could blow it on stuff to complete the 4x5 experience. Or I could buy a new motherboard and RAM and other things to update my computer.
God forbid I save it.

I just got this book today Stew, I haven't had a chance to have a proper look at it because of visitors, but as you say it looks very good.

I read and thought it was informative. I know that many do not like her, but she has a way with people. I gave it to a co-worker and hope that she in turn will pass it on when she finishes it.

Christmas was/is good in some ways, but tough in others.

Got to spend time with my extended family (the best present), but that included my mom, who is in the hospital.

With respect to the wrapped presents, nothing directly photographic, but the others included a cold weather coat, and two nice sweaters, two books, and some wine.

Oh, and some $, which may very well end up in some photographic vendors' coffers .

What I really need is some time though for photographic purposes (including bringing my APUG exchange obligations up to date).

I purchased myself a 22-inch double-sided (soft-gold and white) Photoflex LiteDisc. I have used it with both my Nikon D40x and my F100 with Kodachrome 64. It's been a fabulous investment. The results you can obtain with an F100 camera, SB800 flash (bounced off the ceiling), LiteDisc, and Kodachrome 64 are incredible. I use a Sunpak Pro 523P tripod with an MC-30 cable-release so I can hold the LiteDisc near the subject. If you can, I urge you to try KR64 with this set-up (just one roll!) in 2009. If you do, you will ask yourself why more people don't use Kodachrome.

From my uncle, the Zeiss Ikon Trona 212 1/4 plate camera that my grandfather bought new in the 1920s.

From my mum, the loan of 5 boxes of plates shot with the Trona in the late 20's and early 30's, to make prints from.

I gave my daughter a Minolta X-500 with an MD 35-70 f3.5 lens to replace the X-570 that was stolen from her a few months back. The look on her face when she unwrapped it was priceless and the best photo-related gift I got for Christmas.

I picked up an early Leotax D-IV with 5cm F1.5 Simlar, a "restoration Project". Judging by the roll of Kodachrome II in the chamber, it had been in storage for a while. The glass and aperture cleaned up nicely, focus mount is dry-tight. The lens is the 74th one made. I'm going to put film through this camera again. The body is on its way to Youxin Ye to look over.
