China Lucky to resume color negative film production in 2024

I've just seen a social media post from Nik & Trick (UK retailer) that they will be stocking Lucky SHD 100 colour film in 120 format "straight from source" at £6 a roll.

They also state that there has been investment from Kodak in this, and that it is new fresh film.

Sounds good, but isn't SHD 100 a black and white film?

Good point. The picture showed SHD100 but I got the impression they were talking about colour film...though it didn't specifically say so!

That sounds like it might be kind of misleading, as it likely refers to the short-lived joint venture between these firms some 25 years ago.

It is certainly intriguing, as you and I both believe that the investment from Kodak was years ago. N&T are not, as far as I know, known for misleading customers.

It hasn't appeared for sale on their website yet but I'll keep an eye out.

Maybe something is lost in translation or maybe you can't believe the internet, OR maybe Lucky has invented a new multipurpose B&W/colour film.

Yes, but the English translation can appear misleading.

You might notice that the box displays SHD 400 CN.
IIRC the CN used to denote colour negative, or maybe I am reading it wrong.

Note that this film was designed for the C-41 process. Probably like the Ilford XP2.

Thanks for that, I didn't know that Lucky produced a chromogenic B&W film. Do you know is it more like the Kodak BW400CN (with the orange mask) or like Ilford XP2 Super?

I hope this as well as Ilford's new color offering provide downward pressure on prices. Now if someone could produce an inexpensive general use E-6 like Sensia...

Or ANY other colour transparency film would be great! (I mean a proper film, not like Phoenix colour neg.)

Another brand heard from after a long while.. Lucky Film.

It is inminent since the end of 2024. It will happen when it happens... Imminent as in N&T expect to receive some in the next month.

Before even thinking about a color film they should solve their annoying quality issues with SHD400.
