It seems that now that Fotokemika has left the market we have:
Kodak
Ilford
Fuji
Foma

Other than Rollie Foma makes all of the house brand 120s, I am not sure who makes Rollie, some may be orphaned rolls of Agfa, over the years may have been coated by Fotokemika.

I have seen any Lucky or other films from China, dont know if China still makes any film.

Foma house brands seem to be the cheapist. I happen to like Foma 200 and 100 in 120 and 4X5, I also use Foma 400 in 35mm when I want an older looking film, Trx from the 70s.

Who makes Adox products? Need to know that Rodinal(Adonal) will be made somehow.

If they go out of business I'll petition ilford to buy the formula, Rodinal must survive! Haha

I can't get Rodinal even if it is still available and in production, even another formulas that are similar to Rodinal such as Adonal and Parodinal and such.

Well, my only solution and i am almost 99% closer to it is to buy the chemicals to produce Rodinal, i checked the formula and bought the chemicals, what made me laugh is someone here links me to Parodinal formula instead of Rodinal even i asked about Rodinal only, how funny.

You have the full list of Rodinal chemicals? Can you post or PM me?

But that's the old version? that isn't the current Rodinal/Adonal/R09 version, I know something changed, that might also mean the results will be different. Do you happen to know the current version's info? Thanks this was still good to have, just wondering about the current version.

Well, how much different that old version to current one?

Try this old thread, in all cases, the current Rodinal is discontinued and no longer available rather than some last stocks or someone have plenty

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Unless I missed something Rodinal is NOT discontinued its just made by ADOX and called Adonal now, it's exactly the same as the last style of Rodinal before the company stopped production.

As a side note ADOX also sells the "old" version of Rodinal which is the one you listed.

Thanks for the Info it's nice to have.

But Adox still makes new batches of Adonal as far as I understand it.

Then why they changed the name to Adonal? I thought that Adonal is a bit different formula but same characteristics as Rodinal, same like Kodak D-76 and Ilford ID-11, but i could be wrong, i will use that old version Rodinal if i make it and see how will be the results, i can't buy Adonal anyway as it doesn't ship to my country.

The legal right to the trade-name "Rodinal" is owned by a business that no longer trades. The two formulas (old and new) are either in the public domain, or owned by businesses that don't have the right to use the name.

The business that manufacturers the chemistry that is the same as the new form of Rodinal doesn't sell it directly to end users. Instead, it sells it in bulk to businesses that bottle it in smaller, usable quantities and then sell it to retailers who sell it to photographers.

As a result, what was once the new Rodinal is sold under different names in different parts of the world. In Canada the company that buys from the manufacturer, re-packages and then distributes the result is called "Blazes Photography", and their product is labelled "Blazinal". The company is so small it doesn't even maintain a website.

What he said... still, I thought Adox was the actual current manufacturer? Could have sworn they bought the actual chemical process patent. Either way it's alive and well ... for now... I just want the NEW formula "just in case" lol

Couple of points.

(1)The AGFA Rodinal plant is now a contract Manufacurer, who produces the product for several distributors including ADOX. No one has clear rights to the rodinal name so they are all different. At the same time the ORWO version was made by another plant that is now independet, and they sell to some of the same distributors. It is tricky to know which version is which, but some previous threads have indicated that there is not too much procical difference between them. I am not sure of the Foma Versons are from the same factories or if FOMA makes their own. Since it can't be shipped mail order, the only one I have been able to get latly is Blazenol.

(2) the Chinesse film situation is murky, but Shanghai GP-3 seems to be still sold with resonable dates from a couple of Sellers in China, Hong Kong, Thiland, and perhaps other locations. The product and it's package have a kinda "Home made" feel to them, but they are capable of good results. It is the ONLY film that I have found that will feed reliably in my Shanghai 4 TLR. the backing paper of other films will slip on the film metering wheel. Rumor has it that the Lucky SHD 100 in 120 is now gone. The ERA film is suposidly also out of production.

Freestyle will ship by mail, just has to be ground mail. Unless Canada has different rules than the US.

The Adox Adonal that Freestyle sells can only be shipped ORM-D - which precludes shipment outside of the continental US - no Canada, and no Hawaii or Alaska.

That is a US rule, not a Canadian one.

Oh interesting, and annoying... well I'm sure that blaze stuff is the same, at least he's able to get it.

I doubt there was a patent on a variation. If it were it would be gone long ago.

In this field raw product availability and not patent issues would be the issue.

Ok, good to know. Well, I still want the new formula haha. But I want a LOT of formulas like all of the E6 ones... I want to make my own... I digress...

Just received my Ultrafine plus 100 today

I just received my 5 rolls of Ultrafine Plus 100 120 film today and did a little comparison. I don't have any Chinese (lucky or Shanghai), but do have some fresh bought Arista EDU 100. I removed the wrapper and about the only thing alike is the color of the backing paper. The glue that holds the wrap on the film is very soft and almost gooey. They are both on plastic spools, but the Arista(Foma) has a cross slot for the wind tab and the Ultrafine has a cross. Also, it looks like the Arista is either wound tighter on the spool or is a thinner film/paper combo. I'll know more when I process it. I have a sneaky feeling it comes from the people with yellow skin, but I could be wound since I have nothing to compare to. The gummy glue is the clue I'm going by.

Just FYI that yellow skin comment was a little racist and kind of offensive. I know sometimes people aren't aware when they say offensive things(like me with almost everything I say), so I'm saying this more as reminder but not at all to be a jerk.

Stop complaining about film prices in USA. Here in Brazil we pay 15 dollars for Tri-x 120 and 10 dollars for Acros. We dont have Rodinal or any other developer except d76, which costs 25 dollars a gallon pack.
The cheapest way to buy film here is getting from eBay from USA, paying 50% more as import taxes.

BTW, all chinese films sucks. I only use TMAX 400 and Acros 100 in 120 and Tri-x, double x and acros in 35mm.

I think Stone said something about tmax and dd-x, Now I'm souping Tmax in parodinal getting good results.
