I'll be there between 5 & 6, arriving by bus. Looking forward to seeing you all (again in a few cases).

Rob

Fiday Night...

Hi All,

I have to say I am looking forward to the weekend very much. I enjoyed the get together at Symonds Yat much more than I expected, you all made me feel very welcome. Although I am not looking forward to the M25 on a 'Friday after' even vaguely...

I am going to try to set off at lunchtime, so should hopfully arrive around 5-6pm. But who knows if that is pure optimism at this stage.

I will have a number of transparencies to show as the new darkroom is still not off the ground yet.

I would happily pick up anyone enroute or drop off any one who needs a lift back to a station or home in the area. Like wise I could drop off anyone whilst I travel back to Bedfordshire if that helps...

Last time I enjoyed the evenings as much as the taking of photos in the daytime. It would appear that we may be a much bigger group this time. I guess we will sort out some kind of itinery on the Friday evening as last time.

I realise that I rarely need a little help in raising a glass, but I would like to suggest a little toast to the friends that couldn't make it when we sit down to eat...

Regards to all.

Mark

That sounds like an excellent idea.

Do you have a viewing solution for the slides, Mark? I have a mains-powered A4 light panel and a fair-to-middling (Ohnar 4x) loupe for 35mm. Or a (again 35mm) projector and (fairly lousy) screen, if we have anywhere to set up.

It'll be nice to have a little colour about the place!

Slides

I have a small viewer which has a magazine, this would take care of the 35mm stuff. This is powered by the mains. Plus could bring a lightbox for anything larger.

Our Richard K did mention that he had a local shop that had a second-hand 6x6 projector. I will see if this is available still...

will see you all friday night .looking forward to it.

The Met Office forecast is looking promising for Saturday - to whatever extent that is useful at this distance in time...

While I am here, just a quick reminder that it is this time of year again  .

Bob.

Look Bob, in Barry's absence:sad: (an absence by the way that borders on an extreme dereliction of duty in my veiw:mad:) I’m beating my prayer mat half to death trying to come to some sort of arrangement over this weather thing; so just remember to give credit where credit is due. And remember that I don't do blame. Now, these tree things; what colour filter will I want?

No problem Dave. I'm sure no one at all will blame you to the tiniest little extent whatsoever if you should have the massive misfortune to fail miserably in arranging for suitable weather. No one could possibly blame you if the entire weekend was declared a washout due to stormy weather. No worries...

Bob.

P.S. I'm not sure that whacking the mat with a carpet beater is the recommended method of having payers answered.

P.P.S. Filter? Don't ask me - the last colour negative film I used was last autumn. I'll definitely get it developed any day now...

I hear a polarising filter and a super-saturated film (Velvia 50) are a good combination for woods in Dead Link Removed. Especially when it's persisting down...!

...and don't worry about not doing blame, Dave. We'll do it for you!

Polaroid 20x24's

Hi guys and gals

I've finally managed to get clearance from she who must be obeyed to come down on Friday night, so looking forward to meeting some or all of you.

I'm trying to get ahead of the traffic so plan to be there by 6 at the latest so if anyone else is getting there early I'll see you in the bar, sadly I'll be the one drinking water as I'm driving back that night, so no drinkies unfortunately

if anyone is interested in seeing some 20x24 B&W polaroids and colour transfers let me know and I'll bring a few.

I'll definitely be bringing some 20x16 silver gelatins, mind you the last time I showed some in a pub a glass of red wine was spilled into the portfolio case, thankfully the prints were in conservation sleeves but bye bye one portfolio case, aaarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

shameless piece of self promotion, I'll have a few copies of my book with me for £35 (rrp £50) or with a 10x8 silver gelatin of your choice for £50

Carl, looking forward to seeing your wet plate stuff and finally meeting face to face

see you all friday

Great news, Seamus! Looking forward very much to meeting you and seeing your work!

How many of us is there?

Hi all, out of curiosity - how many of us will be in attendance? It seems like we will have a fair number this time...

Mark

Well, just doing a quick count up I make it that 18 APUGers have expressed an interest in coming along. Not everyone will be staying over and that figure doesn't include any significant others.

Brian

Well I'm going to confuse the issue by bringing a tripod and a monopod!

See y'all tomorrow probably about 6ish.

Rob

Hi All.

I'm just about to leave home to work through the night. After my shift I will go home and hopefully grab an hour or so sleep.

I hope to arrive about 6 PM aswell. So if any one sees a bloke, slumped over a tripod asleep in the corner, wake him up because it will probably me.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

See you tomorrow.

Stoo

Righto, I'm setting off in a few minutes and hope to be at the venue before the end of the afternoon.

Everyone have a safe trip and I'll see you there!

All the best,

Frank

I'm just about to start loading the luggage and the kitchen sink into the car, shouldn't take more than an hour; or two. Anyway the sun is shining so it looks like a dry run.

Spare kitchen sink loaded

We are setting off in a minute... Spare sink included in case Dave's malfunctions!

Mark

Nice to have put some names to faces - shame I couldn't hang round for longer or join up on Saturday but it looks as though the weather was good for you! Some nice work on show - always better in the flesh

Its a big thankyou to Leon for setting up an excellent weekend, great company, great venue, great photos.,great places to visit. A lot of work and worry goes into organising these meets and Leon and you done a first class job.
I reckon Dave gets 10 out of 10 for laying on the weather.

Tony

I can only agree with Tony there. Leon, your selection of venues was brilliant and made for a great day. Many thanks.

And thanks to all for such inspiring company and conversation.
