Have a great weekend guy's, I really do wish I could be there but I'm invited to an event that is celebrating a 100th anniversary. I won't be around for the next one!

Barry

I was rather hoping that you had forgotton about that Barry, enjoy yourself, and don't get stuck down a hole. see you next time.

Starbucks are the worst manifestation of American franchises in the UK and beats even Frankie & Bennys for poor taste.

Ian

ahhh - and I agree wholeheartedly, but wasnt it started by a British student who was studying in Seattle, or did I dream that?

Oh, I am so miffed. ***s***s !

Next you'll want a McDonalds for you lunch & evening meal

Be a man - real ale, real food, real tea and a real camera made of wood !!!!! Coffee's for wimps, I'm sure Dave Miller will introduce you to real tea rooms and cream cakes. At least you've made a start with the camera.

Shame these events are always while I'm abroad in the warmth.

I looked up train timetables and I took half a day off on Friday 5 October

I'll be taking the train from London Victoria to Faversham, and I am expecting to be in Faversham around 4pm-ish.
Then I'll make my way via bus (number 3 Canterbury direction) or taxi, I did not realise that Boughton was that close to Faversham.
Donut had offered very kindly to pick me, thank you very much, but not to worry, I think I'll manage on my own

I am planning to check out the B&B on the Sunday morning but return to London in the evening only.
Possibly I can leave my luggage in somebody's boot, room, or B&B reception on the Sunday itself.

I look forward to meeting you all

Yup, along and about that time (and depending on the traffic!).

Should be a good do!

I have very sad news.

I've been contacted by Ann Stredwick, John's (pyrometol's) wife, to say that John died suddenly on September 9th. Ann writes -

"I am sorry we will be unable to attend the Get Together next weekend, in fact would you be so kind as to withdraw our names from the list of members. We often spoke of our lovely weekend at Symonds Yat with such a great group of people and I will continue to remember it fondly."

I really don't know what else to say, except that John was a great character and his death is a great loss to his family and indeed to us all.

I've started another thread (there was a url link here which no longer exists) and will pass on any messages posted to Ann. I'll contact the hotel and let them know of the change.

I'm really looking forward to seeing old faces and meeting new ones

Now ... I'm going to have to be a bit cheeky and ask if anyone might be generous enough to offer to pick me up on Saturday morning? I only live about 6 miles from Boughton, but it's through lanes with no bus or train service linking the two villages. My wife is coming to the pub with me on the Friday night, but she's off to Newcastle in the early hours of Saturday am leaving me car-less (how inconsiderate!). I'll get a taxi home from the pub on the Saturday night, so it's only the saturday morning I'll need a lift. It's a bit difficult because Chilham isnt on the way to where I planned to take everyone ...

Cheers

Leon

Hi Donut,

I highly recommend you edit your post and remove your mobile number. Just IMO, but it's not the sort of thing I'd leave sitting around on a public forum...!

If you want to pass it to Leon then PM is a good way.

All the best,

Frank
