This sounds like its going to be another good weekend - I'm sorry that I can't make it.
I do hope that you all have a successful time - see you at the next one!

Hi Stoo,

Myself and my other half will be going - so you would be more than welcome to a lift if you need one (as we are in Bedfordshre).

Mark

Hi Mark

Very decent of you to offer.

I will go in my car anyway, as I will continue down to the Kent coast on sunday evening to see my friends in Deal. I do look forward to meeting you, along with everyone else.

Thanks again

Kind Regards

Stoo

John - Hold your horses there young man .... give me chance

I should be popping over for a few firkins on Saturday so I'll put the suggestion forward then

so far we have 11 singles and 4 doubles

Dave Miller - double
jeffeb - single
Sandeha Lynch - single
Tony Marlow - double
Mark Burley - double
rjkkap - single
Ailsa - single
BobF - single
FrankB single
Rob Archer - single
midlife crisis - single
Delphine - single
John Stredwick - double
Black dog - single (although wants to share(! !)

the pub only has 16 rooms so were almost there as it is (I wonder who'll get the bridal and honeymoon suits.

but yes, once I've chanced my arm for a discount (dont hold your collective breaths) it'll be down to you to book.

cheers

Hi again Stoo,

We are hoping to test the newish campervan on this weekend so space would not have been a problem. mind you, with all the spare digital back-up cards I have been asked to try! I might have less room than I thought - that's by the time all the film gear and portfolio is packed of course...

So Leon, if you run out of rooms - we might stay in the campervan any way... that's provided I don't get thrown out for snoring as usual...

Rooms at the Inn

Leon, I see from your list that you have me down for a single room. I will be coming to the party but my outlaws only live just the other side of Sheldwich so I be staying there. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Regards

Well I've just heard my shift rota will be changing, again, as of the 1st of October. This could work one of two ways. I will or will not be off for the week-end. So I would be greatful if you would all keep your collective fingers crossed. The $64,000 is how much notice I will get. So in summary it was the case that I was highly unlikley to make the Gathering that situation has now changed and I may or may not, as the case may be, be there.

erm - bit of a problem

Erm .... big problem ........ *embarrased smiley face*

The woolpack is fully booked on the saturday night (6th) that weekend - they have a wedding on. But they are fine the following weekend 12-14th. I said I'd get back to you all to see if that is do-able then go back for a price. Failing that, It'll have to be everyone calling the various other B&Bs in chilham to find out. they wont be able to accommodate us all and they dont do dinners etc I think.

Probably best to try and stick with the original date if we can: it did win by quite a margin. Problem then becomes where to stay, but that was always a potential problem.

In the event of no personal knowledge: Dead Link Removed

Cheers, Bob.

Good suggestion Bob - only the original venue was for Chilham rather than canterbury. that said, I'm more than happy to meet up with people if they'd rather stay in the city. I cant recommend anywhere there though. It's a shame because when I originally checked a few weeks back, the woolpack was free the whole weekend.

I thought Canterbury/Kent was in the poll and your local knowledge of the area made Chilham the obvious specific location. I do wish people would not go around getting married at inconvenient times... so thoughtless of them...

Cheers, Bob.

Ok - I have contacted loads of hotels and pubs in area with little luck --- apart from these two.

http://www.conningbrookashford.co.uk/index.htm

or this one

http://www.whitehorsecanterbury.co.uk/index.htm

The white horse is cheaper, is totally free for thes 5th and 6th October and say they can do us a deal IF we fill the rooms and eat there. Eating isnt a problem - but, fitting us all in might be. there are 2 twins that, if people are prepared to double up on, we could all fit in (black dog???), but of course that might not be appropriate, or wanted.

I'll find out more tomorrow when I call back to speak to the managers of each, but thoughts woudl be good??

My preference must be for the White Horse. It's close to Canterbury, and offers the option of the north Kent coast at Seasalter or Whitstable, weather permitting.

I'm very happy with either. You can put me down for the Sunday night too if that will help as a bargaining chip...

If the change of venue creates transportation problems for anyone, then please post to that effect, I’m sure something can be sorted out. We’ve never left anyone behind yet; at least I don’t think we have. Anyone still walking?
We may well stay over the Sunday night as well since I have the following week booked as a holiday.
