Camera Portraits!

Ok, since we are in the business of exhbitionism with everybody (myself included) exhbitting themselves online, what about a photo of your favourite picture making tool?
Come on, I am sure people would love to see your 50x70 inch Super Ultra Large Format monster or your 60 year old special edition rangefinder you found in a forgotten part of the world and bought for a t-shirt.
Everybody anway has atleast one photo of or with the camera! And you don't need a second one to take the picture as long as you are aware of the invention of mirrors or the existance of shiny reflective surfaces!

Sorry all, my equipment is all old, much used, and already well known by any standards. Well, except possibly the Koni Omega Rapid, which may be my favoite for technically well-done negatives, but may not be familiar to many younger photographers.

Four Voigtlanders from left to right: Bessa II/Color-Heliar; Superb/Heliar; Perkeo II/Color-Skopar; Vitessa-L/Ultron. The Bessa II is the one that's currently loaded with Tri-X in my briefcase. I'm about halfway through my last roll of Kodachrome 25 in the Vitessa-L.

I've never heard of the Superb. Does it take 120 film?

The Superb takes 120. I saw one for sale at B&H recently, but it had a Skopar instead of a Heliar. The Superb is the first parallax correcting TLR. The whole mirror/screen/viewing lens assembly tilts as you focus. It also has a bubble level in the finder, and the shutter speed, focus distance, and aperture are all visible from the top of the camera. Film winds horizontally by a ratcheting lever, and there is a frame counter, but no auto-stop mechanism.

Very cool. Those are all beautiful cameras & I'm sure are a complete joy to use.

My recently restored 4x5 and a Model C Ries, also refinished.
Next is the 8x10 Korona.

Used this the first time with film at the Per Volquartz Zion workshop.
I had the "oldest" camera.

I'd display my ULF format beast, but that may be considered lewd....

Heres my Anba 4x5, the one I use most. I've also got a Korona 8x10 much like Matt Millers than needs a little TLC on the gears. Then theres the other two 4x5s, a Cambo Cadet and a Cambo 45NX, our three Bronica SQA and SQAi cameras, the various Canon EOS 35mm and one lonely EOS digicamera. I rarely take the time to mess with portraits of the cameras.

Well, here is a copy of my new toy. Since I haven't tried it yet I can't say it's my favourite, but I anticipate that will be the case.

First 4x5

I've posted this camera before, but what the heck. Here it is again. My first attempt at a 4x5 showing the 545i back in place. This one was too heavy (I don't know if I could get it on an airplane due to weight and safety considerations), so I made the next one a bit lighter and easier to build, handle and carry. I needed movements, so this attempt at "saving money" was fine until I went a bit further with 4x5.

I'm still contemplating an 8x10 ultralight made out of composite materials with full movements and a long bellows. Who knows, some day my back may decide the old B&J beast just isn't portable enough. I still can't afford a sherpa and a burro would require a trailer, feed, water and more maintenance than I care to provide.

That's one of the coolest pinholes I've seen! The other day I was passing by a millitary clothing surplus store and they had one of those ammo boxes and I wondered if it had any use as a film storage or something photographic. Imagine that!
One of the best pacifist statements: "I now shoot film, not bullets".
Can you give us a discription of how you made it?
Does the plastic lupe work well, or does it give an Holga-like distortion?

Haven't drilled a hole in it yet, it's still keeping some of my ammo dry.

But I suppose if one wanted to... well, pre-mount a roll of film in plastic slide mounts and build a mechanism in the box for storing and feeding them. One could have a multiple shot semi-auto pin hole. Just process the film right in the slide mounts.
