I received a beautiful print of a small boy at a cathedral with candles from Todd.

Also, I finally managed to overcome self-criticism enough to select three prints, and wrote accompanying notes for them. I will send them tomorrow.

Guess I ought to apologize to those who I've sent prints to, I'd included only one (but to all three folks) w/out mounting. Its my first time for BPX, I'm a noobie but really liked the print I got with gorgeous mounting so really feel bad. Next time I'll do better.

Mounting is neither required nor expected in the BPX. Nor is matting, framing, glazing, or anything else beyond just the print. Some choose to do it. But certainly not everyone has the materials and equipment. Or the inclination.

I believe it states somewhere in the BPX guidelines that the only expectation is to make the best print you are able. It's sort of the Teddy Roosevelt thing: Do the best that you can, with what you have, where you are.

Hi Folks!

Received a beautiful print from Randy today. It's so exciting to have other peoples work. Thanks again to Eugene for organizing and maintaining this. Two of my peeps (Erno and Todd) have received theirs. Thank you both for your nice comments. Let's hope that my third person gets theirs soon.

Much aloha,
Laura

Just another quick indirect update. Peter Schrager has, in fact, already sent his print, since I am the one who received it. I'm not sure if he mentioned it in this thread. I wrote a little bit about the image in an earlier post above.

Ken

Randy and Andrew,

That is amazing! Honest, I did not do it on purpose. My program that randomly assigns people just matched you up. You are almost within walking distance of each other, and I did not even notice until now! What are the odds? We should get a Powerball ticket ASAP!

Yesterday I got two sendings for BPX 22! I am very happy, although I have no idea how that may happen.

Erno (onre) sent out a quadratic image of a birch alley from Finland. This image gives a real feeling of spring to me: Something we are all waiting for here in Germany. Erno: I found the contrast of the print exactly right, no need for harder grade.

The second print came from Todd ( astroclimb i think). A low key print from the inner of a church / cathedral. My wide enjoyed the print too! The grain supports the content of the image. Todd: Are you amateur astronomer? You nickname indicates that. I am astronomer too, look here (sorry for the page beeing in German). ~ I hope your wife gets better, please carry my best wishes for her.

BPX is great!!

And I just received a charming photo from Anthony (adelorenzo). Love the rich brownish-greys and well balanced tonally.

I especially appreciate this photo of Nares Mountain, Carcross Yukon Territories because as a claim adjuster handling both Alaska and Washington from an office near Tacoma, I've paid for many a looong tow in the YT. The AlCan Hwy isn't gentle on cars. Thanks, Anthony!

So I'm even more ashamed--after receiving three wonderful prints from Kenneth, today I received on from Anthony. How different they all are! Kenneth's are moody with a softness I never go for because I'm never happy with it, and Anthony's image of Nares Mountain has lots of detail I like to drink in--I'm still trying to figure out just how big or small it is.
So I've been working 7 days a week since mid February and have only got my test prints made, but tomorrow I'm paying my wife to go order my mats--so I'm getting closer. I just need a lot of rest and an empty day ... however they are going to get me to retire sooner than they planned.

Hi,

Glad you and your wife enjoyed the print. And no, not an amateur astronomer. Actually, experimental physicist. My nickname came from a time in my career ~20 yrs ago when for more than a decade I was doing very high-energy gamma-ray astronomy, working to develop a new technique/method for making an all-sky observatory that was able to see gammas around 10^12 eV or greater. We found some interesting results such as diffuse emission from the galactic plane. I also "saw" (actually the experiment I worked on detected) neutrinos from SN1987a. Much much fun and very interesting astrophysics. I've since moved on to other areas of experimental physics.

I enjoyed your website and the pics there, thanks!

Uwe, the reason you got several prints is the new experiment I started for this exchange - the backups. Notice, the assignment had a list of three - one primary and two optional backups. Some people had extra prints and mailed them out. My hope is that because of these occasional backup mailing, we should get fewer people that do not receive a print at all (which tends to be a huge disappointment). And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that with luck everybody would receive a print. Of course some, like you, may be even extra lucky to get several!!!! Let's see how this experiment holds.

Eugene.

I received a back up print from Anthony Delorenzo yesterday. It is a very pleasing landscape showing a Yukon mountain late in the day with beautiful tones and low light highlights revealing the texture of the mountain and a lake in the foreground. Thanks Anthony.

Hi all,

Just want to confirm I have received two prints this past week, from Black Dog (Jake) and Erno Palonheimo. Jake's print of a lichen covered boulder near Lustleigh, Devon shows a delicate range of tones and detail, and I very much like the paper its print on (Fomatone MG G3), whilst Erno's print of the hustle and bustle of a local super markets was a bonus, I like the leading lines of the ceiling lights leading you into the scene and the inquisitive stare of a man as he passes by. Both are beautifully printed. Thank you.

I got another print today. From Loren Sattler. Spectacular print of ship worker. Thanks Loren very much.

My prints went out today. The main plus two extras. Given the standard of the prints I've received so far I need to redo my main print. So my first print will be redone and resent...

Yeah. I think you might be right. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The painful part of BPX is that there were always 2-3 people who would not receive a print. This can be a major turn-off, especially if you put significant effort and money into your own contribution. This round looks remarkably good already. I'm praying that hopefully this time everybody will get a print (or two or three). And we are very, very close to that target already
