Whoa, Forget what I said before. If your shooting from three inches away you need a G Claron, Ronar, Makro Sironar or Apo Macro. Like DF said, "far beyond the design of the system".
Early Riser said:Roteague, I'm not sure if you were addressing me but I'll reply. The APO-Symmar, like the Rodenstock Sironar series, is a general purpose lens. That is it should work well in a wide range of reproduction ratios, most usually 1:10 to infinity is optimum. In some cases like the Sironar-S the performance at 1:5 or even 1:3 could be quite good. If you plan on shooting things nearly life size, that is around 1:1 ( the range being 1:3 to 3:1) you really need to use a Macro although process type lenses, like APO Ronars and G Clarons work well.

Ole said:Robert, I know from experience that the gap between 90 and 135mm is big enough to fit a lens in that makes a lot of difference. Mine's a 121mm - actually two different ones.
Berween 80 and 135 I'd say you will definitely manage to find situations where one is too wide and the other too narrow.

What don't you like about your enlargements?

Pragmatist said:Some of the super-duper lenses have rear element assemblies so large they cannot work on some cameras.
roteague said:B&H lists it at $ 2,278.95. I would buy it in a minute, if I had an need of a 150 lens.
