Beside the Nikon F6, what are the other 35mm camera still on production?

Fuji's Instax film is doing well.

Is FP-100C profitable enough for Fuji to keep making it? We probably cannot know. I think they've underestimated the demand for FP-100C and the discontinued FP-3000B - or maybe film lovers just think it's more popular than it really is.

I wish Fuji would make a Polaroid 600SE equivalent to take those films. Like the 600SE, it would be a serious camera with full control of shutter speed, aperture, and focus.

Have the F6 now. It is a terrific camera. It would be nice to have more choices though.

I do agree that part of the issue is that film cameras are not big sellers and the majority of manufacturers are not interested in producing a product that will not be a big seller.

I think the answer is different they have stopped making cameras the old way they use robots to make cameras instead of ladies who can do origami, ladies are cheaper and better than fellas.

But robots and poly carbonate are even cheaper.

'We' are buying the cheaper products, in volume, your F6 is an exception, a statistical outlier.

Cosina can still hand assemble, they do...
Leica have never stopped, M7 and its variants, MP, etc.,...
The F6 is hand assembled

There is no (insufficient) demand for F6 (to production line it) it is a catch 22 syndrome.

Cosina are masters at small batch manufacture.

Note I don't have a d camera but I have an iPhone... In a decade things will be different...

Antique iPhones can do billboards... The smart phones are capturing hot news like a peace officer terminating a newspaper vendor before his time or a runner for UK PM telling a cab driver to die and 'mate' in same phrase, the benifits of going to a very expensive single sex school!

The last I heard, years ago, was that the F6 was being hand assembled by two people at Nikon. Production rate was slow, obviously, but was enough to meet demand.

Does anyone know if that was actually true and, if so, whether that work continues? Or has production stopped and all the F6's available now are the last ones that will ever be?

The last numbers I saw for the F 6 was a couple of thousands a year, maybe less, from parts on hand. My concern is the lack of middle range cameras, as used cameras disappear there is no middle of road AF cameras, like a N 90 or ZX 70.

Maybe Nikon will give those two people boxes of parts when they retire, then they will train their kids how to build them at home

Whether or not that rumor is true or not, it sure sounds good.

The F6 is still available new, whether those are just remaining stock or not, I couldn't say.

That was my concern when I first opened this thread.
As I said, Sakar apparently still makes Vivitar V3800 cameras (K mount)..., as I was told lately.

Good to know. It is no longer listed at B&H...Their new 35mm camera page is practically down to the two Nikons, Leica's, and remaining Voigtlanders...sad!
It used to be listed on the Ultrafine Online web page, but not anymore. (Sorry, I repeat myself on this thread... )

If the Vivitar V3800n is still being built, I have not been able to find it being sold new. That is too bad since this is really quite a good little camera.

The Nikon FM10 is out there yet. It is basically the Vivitar body with the Nikon nameplate and a Nikkor 28-70 manual focus zoom lens.

Hi Dan
The FM10 is a Cosina camera
If you buy a F6 normally you order and wait and it can arrive with a note in English from the assembly worker thanking you for ordering a F6...

You can still buy FM10 (Cosina made) but I wonder whether you get them from storage, not from a production line. :/

The FM's, FE's and FE-2's last forever. Mine are still going strong.

Phenix DC303N seems to be available as new from different stores. I suppose it is still being produced.

Phoenix appears to have gone out of business in 2006 or 2007, Phoenix made 35mm in Pentax K and Minolta MD mount. I have a Phoenix K mount, it was made in Japan, later models may have been made in China. There may be new old stock still on hand.

Different manufacturers.

Phenix still offers SLRs, rangefinders and compacts

I would not worry at all.

200 years later, once we are really dead, I bet that the Canon F-1s and Nikon Fs left on this earth can still be kept in working order, proven that they are stored away from harsh environments and re-lubricated every 25 years...

Hey man, speak for yourself

Your right, Pheniz is a Taiwan Company that sells cameras made by Jiangxi Optical Instrument in China, the Jiangixi web site does not list any current cameras, perhaps Jianixi builds for Pheniz as needed. I have not seen in the US.

Phenix and Jiangxi are part of one company.
Maybe old stock. Or outdated website... (they got two)
