Have the F6 now. It is a terrific camera. It would be nice to have more choices though.
I do agree that part of the issue is that film cameras are not big sellers and the majority of manufacturers are not interested in producing a product that will not be a big seller.
The last I heard, years ago, was that the F6 was being hand assembled by two people at Nikon. Production rate was slow, obviously, but was enough to meet demand.
Does anyone know if that was actually true and, if so, whether that work continues? Or has production stopped and all the F6's available now are the last ones that will ever be?
That was my concern when I first opened this thread. The last numbers I saw for the F 6 was a couple of thousands a year, maybe less, from parts on hand. My concern is the lack of middle range cameras, as used cameras disappear there is no middle of road AF cameras, like a N 90 or ZX 70.
It used to be listed on the Ultrafine Online web page, but not anymore. (Sorry, I repeat myself on this thread... )Good to know. It is no longer listed at B&H...Their new 35mm camera page is practically down to the two Nikons, Leica's, and remaining Voigtlanders...sad!
If the Vivitar V3800n is still being built, I have not been able to find it being sold new. That is too bad since this is really quite a good little camera.
The Nikon FM10 is out there yet. It is basically the Vivitar body with the Nikon nameplate and a Nikkor 28-70 manual focus zoom lens.
If you buy a F6 ... it can arrive with a note in English from the assembly worker thanking you for ordering a F6...

That is really nice.
You can still buy FM10 (Cosina made) but I wonder whether you get them from storage, not from a production line. :/If the Vivitar V3800n is still being built, I have not been able to find it being sold new. That is too bad since this is really quite a good little camera.

Phenix DC303N seems to be available as new from different stores. I suppose it is still being produced.
Phoenix appears to have gone out of business in 2006 or 2007, Phoenix made 35mm in Pentax K and Minolta MD mount.
I would not worry at all.
200 years later, once we are really dead, I bet that the Canon F-1s and Nikon Fs left on this earth can still be kept in working order, proven that they are stored away from harsh environments and re-lubricated every 25 years...
Different manufacturers.
Phenix still offers SLRs, rangefinders and compacts
Hey man, speak for yourself
Phenix and Jiangxi are part of one company.
Maybe old stock. Or outdated website... (they got two)
