I just took a look at mine. While there is some flexion in the chassis, I'm not seeing enough to experience the same thing that you are. What I would look at in the following order are:
1) width of the chassis frame at bottom and top, expecting it to be consistent. If it isn't, I'd expect the only place it could be wrong would be the bottom, but that doesn't make sense if it's coming out of track when you raise it. I'd eliminate it as a possibility anyway.
2) Check to see if each of the tube receivers are tight. If they're loose, the receiver assembly could be sliding inward as you raise it.
3) If they're tight, they could still need to be loosened, spread out a bit, and re-tightened.
2 and or 3 are what my money is on. If someone disassembled it at some point, and didn't put it all back together properly, that's a reasonable explanation.
