I had to google ABC2 to figure out what you fellas were babbling on about.

I'll try and find someone who has this station and get them to record it. My other problem is that I have an ancient VCR, I don't think I'll be able to play anything that is recorded on this new medium.

I have a USB tuner for the PC here - so I can record direct to HDD and bung it on a DVD in whatever strange mpeg format it ends up in, if that's useful? Last time I did that (for a Top Gear episode I wanted to see), an hour was just over 2Gb... It works well, and you can set it like a VCR

I love how the word "taped" remains, like "dialing" a phone number, in this otherwise d*****l world. I'll definitely tape it all and keep you posted. The USB tuner cost around $80ish in a moment of geeky weakness. It's great with standard definition channels, but rubbish for HD, even in a suburb with excellent signal strength... (the image stutters and breaks up on all HD channels). "Compro videomate u300" is the flavour of this one.

Any comments form Canadians watching the series?

I found episode 1 very interesting, 2 rather, and 3 less so. I am a bit disappointed that landscape and what I might term "aesthetic" photography have received little attention in the first three episodes. I hope that changes, but from other comments and some web browsing, I fear it won't. Will I see Weston? Adams?

Also too much over-interpretation and "art speak" for my tastes. The approach seems very "academic."

Nonetheless a treat to see some serious photographic programming.

It is a bit dry at times

But then again, I am not sure how to better appraoch the issue. I am still taping them in case a nugget turns up.

It is a nice counterpoint to watching a few of my old fred picker instructional videos as a refresher, though.

Genius of Photography on Knowledge Network in British Columbia starting February 1, 2

The British Columbia Knowledge Network is now broadcasting the "Genius of Photography series.

I just chanced upon the end of the first episode. Hope the PVR is set properly for the rebroadcast

Here is a link to the schedule on the Knowledge Network's website:

P.S. it would be great if a mod could edit (shorten) the thread title so the full date shows (e.g. Feb 1, 2008)

I thought the show was quite well done, aimed more at the general public than the knowledgeable, understandably, but still well made. Did you successfully record it, Marc? I'm happy to make copies for others if you'd like? I tried to set up a DVD recorder to record it, but ran out of time. What did others think of the show?

Thanks, Marc. So, if the next one is also 2.4 GB, then the first two will not quite fit on one DVD? Maybe do three lots of two episodes? Again, I am happy to burn for others to help out.

Not condoning copyright infringement, of course, but someone's already recorded all six episodes in Apple TV format and listed same at mininova.org.

I saw episode 2 when I was putting together an Ikea bookshelf when I moved in with my sister, she was paying me out for listing events before the narrator said them. It was very impressive, plenty of food for thought

I hadn't seen any episodes until yesterday, (my partner and her daughter hog the TV). I found it very interesting. I had made the suggestion that the programs be copied for the photography students at the TAFE I work at and I'm glad I did. They should be able to learn lots from it.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention
Mike

Well what did you guys think.
I missed week 3 but saw the others... I liked the final one the best but overall I have to admit I don't get it.

Saw some interesting photos but overall not impressed.
