I was quite surprised to find this fairly recent book but I can read it for free by first clicking the little cross in the top right hand corner of the page inviting to subscribe, which then disappears leaving the book.

From Kodak Labs, an earlier version of "Theory of the Photographic Process" by Mees and James,which is only in hardback, as is "Photographic Processing Chemistry" by LFA Mason of Ilford Labs.
