It's always exciting to find another Australian at APUG. Very simply, please write in and tell us where in Australia you are. I'd love to meet the 'Aussie locals'.

Hi, I'm Nicole McGrade from Perth, West Australia and I mostly love fine art and portrait photography.

Can I join in?? I love to meet the 'Aussie locals' as well. LOL. I may get to Perth yet; first another trip back to Alice Springs.

I'm in Sydney. Very busy with Wife, two young kids and work but when I make time, I take lots of pics of my kids, naturally, and friends and Sydney things.

I also get to travel overseas for my work so I always try and take some time to shoot in each country I visit.

Hey Nige  Good to see you again.

Glenn, you lucky duck!
What sort of work do you do? It's great to have the opportunity to travel and take time to shoot!

NZ'er but love Aussie. In fact was there for a flying visit yesterday (does that count?).

I manager a team of IT professionals for a multi-national healthcare company. Part of me team is in Singapore, the rest here in Sydney. I'm also about to get a team member or two in China.

I've also been involved in a regional (Asia Pacific) deployment project over the last 3 years that got me to Japan, Korea, Singapore, India, USA, Belgium, some countries multiple times.

As most trips tend to be two weeks, I always pack the backpack full of camera bits and vanish for the weekend in the middle. I love my job!!!

Hey cheers for that Nige. You know with the number of NZ'ers in Aussie, we regard it as the West Island of New Zealand.

I wonder if we could make parts (not all - there are parts you wouldn't want) of Hawaii the North-North Island? :D

hehe! Haven't heard that one before!

Here in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, we regard NZ as the far eastern states. It doesn't seem to bother the kiwis here too much - I reckon they think the same thing.

And surely kiwis are just aussies with a speech impediment and a penchant for farming sheep?

Absolutely right! and of course, don't forget, making wine. Which by the way is what we use corks for - rather than hanging off our hats!

R, Hey, we are all so multi-cultural here, why not include everone as the North-North Island group...
Nice try matie!

You're only seeing the end result when you see our hats with corks: they once had bottles attached to the hats, but we've drunk all the wine while chasing off those bloody flies!

:D LOL. You mean it wasn't because people kept getting knocked out by the bottles hangin' off the hats when they rode their horses?!

There are ~800,000 people living on the island I live on, and major drug and crime problems. I'd like to keep NZ clean .

BTW, the school I work for Kamehameha Schools has a formal relationship with a Maori cultural institute on the North Island. Just an interesting fact; Hawaiians and Moari are closely related.

The Mother of one of my workmates has just returned from a holiday in Hawaii and she said ~60% of residents there are Japanese, or Japanese descendants. Does that make Hawaii Japan East?

Good question!

I can remember one of our Prime Ministers here in New Zealand once saying that there would never be political union between NZ and Australia, he couldn't see Australians accepting being ruled from Wellington....

It seems that way sometimes; our population is about 60% Japanese. Just go to Waikiki, and see all the shops where the signs are all in Japanese, the customers are all Japanese, in fact, the wedding market here is about all Japanese.
