I just finally had chance to sit down and read through this thread, hoping that I'd be able to make it. It does look like I'll be free the weekend of April the 22/23.

My wife suggested we use it as an excuse for a proper break. We're looking a either staying at the Green Dragon Inn for a few days or possibly getting a holiday cottage in the area for a week or so (any recommendations?).

So it looks like I might finally be able to make it to a gathering and get chance to meet some of you!

Ben.

Nice one! Excellent news, Ben.

Not sure of any cottages in the area, but it might be worth taking a look at the Green Dragon site - as well as B&B they do self-catering flats (dunno if it would suit you and no, I'm not on commission!).

See you in the Spring,

Frank

Rooms booked for Tony Marlow, and myself for the Friday and Saturday nights. Anyone else booked yet?

Hi Dave,

I've just booked. They seem fairly laid back, did not ask for a deposit or CC. I look forward to meeting you all.

That probably means we’ll all end up in the same room. Looking forward to meeting you too Barry.

I'm in too.

...and having read the above I'm delighted to confirm that I'm in a single...!

been trying to book all day, but the phone rings once and crackles then goes dead - they must have some probs with their line

I had the same problem, I don't think they answer the phone in the mornings! Maybe it helps to prevent overbooking.

booked now - so am coming this time. phew

I've heard that before...

I'm going to spend the winter making a voodoo doll of your manager! (Now where did I put those pins...)

Now then, I just found this thread. The Green Dragon is my local so I'll be there anyway! I dare say I can point out a few local photo opportunities as well, there's no shortage of them. If the pub gets full there are loads of b+bs, hotels etc in the Hawes area. Have a look at www.wensleydale.org for starters, you might even find RH Designs in there somewhere!

Regards
Richard

I'm going to Hawes this week-end for a whisky tasting break, hic!!!! However I'm going to be on night shift, again, for the gathering in a April. Might have to sweet talk the shift planner to see if it can be swopped!!!!

Went on the whisky tasting, drank far too much!!!! visited the Green Dragon and the falls, this place has been springkled with loads of cute dust. I've got the time of in April so I'll be there.

Yes, it's one area of the country where it is technically possible to drop your camera and find that you've inadvertantly captured a masterpiece!

"Whoops! Damn, another magnificent photograph!"

Good to have you joining us, Smudge. Likewise, Richard.

looks like it's going to be very well attended. The green dragon wont know what's hitting it.

Don't worry, nothing fazes the people at the Dragon! It's a very laid-back establishment and one of the few remaining "proper" pubs in the Dales.

I spoke to Mark the landlord last night over a pint of Taylor's - he is a bit of a photographer and artist himself and has expressed interest in "listening in". Also, he can offer us some facilities if we want, such as possible use of the function room at the back of the pub. We can discuss it with him nearer the time.

Regards
Richard

He's a painter and also does good pen/ink sketches. I'm afraid photography-wise he's gone digital as he's too buy renovating the pub to get a darkroom organised...

Regards
Richard

I will attend

Hello all,

I read this thread over the weekend - just booked a room for me and my girlfriend for the 22/23 April.

I am looking forward to seeing you all!

Are you keeping count Frank? Have we filled the place yet?

All the beads have fallen off my abacus...!

If there's going to be that many of us there do we need to wear name tags?? Or do we have to guess by the type of camera round our necks? Glad mine's not a 10x8 plate camera!!! Oh DOH!! have I just given it a way???
