Being as I can't make the meet this time is it too early to ask about the Spring 2007 meeting??????? Just a thought...

HI all!
Same here - I have been following this thread, but can't make it in October...I will keep my eyes open for next year!!

Hope you all will have a great time...

Ansgar

How about we go to Alien's planet next spring? I hope it's not Pluto as it's no longer a planet, but that shouldn't stop us going there......should it?

<bump>

Just a quick reminder to any late-comers that the next APUG UK Gathering is scheduled for the last weekend in October in Norfolk here.

you need same pretty long exposure times on Pluto, but at least you don't need a polarizer....

I'm sitting on my suitcase waiting to go.

How many others, have we a head count?

You've beat me to it Dave!

I suggest those of us who are going post to say whether we are going for the full weekend and whether we're eating Fri/ Sat evenings. When I've got a rough idea of numbers I'll contact Yaxham Mill and let them know so (hopefully) we can have an area to ourselves.

I've also been checking out a few good locations depending on light/weather/tides etc., so we've got a few options.

Rob

My wife and I are intending arriving around 4pm on the Friday, as is Tony and his wife, Jean. We will be eating in on Friday, and Saturday, and departing late morning Sunday.
Don't forget to bring some of you photographic work to show around. I haven't got much so I'm relying on the rest of you to bring lots.

Sadly I'm not going to make it I'll be Ireland working, not enjoying the Black Stuff before Miller makes some caustic comment.

Les,
Me, make a caustic comment! I’m flabbered, gasted even. Are you trying to convince us that you’ve taken the pledge at long last?
Your dulcet tones and pearls of wisdom on all things photographic will be greatly missed. Maybe next time?

I will get there early on Friday pm. So I hope to eat Friday & Saturday evening ( I try to most days!), and will leave sometime on Sunday afternoon. It's a little closer to home than the Dales.

Looking forward to it, see you there.

Barry

Friday pm, staying 'til Sunday lunchtime-ish, just the one of me.

Sorry you can't make it, Les. You'll be missed.

I'm sitting on my suitcase waiting to go.

How many others, have we a head count?

I counted my head and found that I have just the one.

As mentioned earlier, I have booked (in fact I will be arriving a day or two early to have a good break) and will definitely be there if not struck by lightning in the intervening time. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Regards,

David

you can count my head as one, but dont mention the two faces .....

I'll probably only be able to make the saturday and saturday evening, and wont be staying at the same B&B so if someone could let me know what the movements are on saturday, I expect I'll find you all somewhere along the way. If not, I'll definitely be there on saturday night for a drink and a chat.

cheers

Hi guys

Can't make this one - I knew October was going to be hopeless workwise.

Hope you have perfect weather, drink and food (including cheesecake) and that the light isn't as flat and as uninteresting as it was in the Dales in spring

Graham

Sorry to hear that, Graham. Hope you can make the next one.

Regrettably I won't be there either as the house move/renovation is having to take priority at present. I'll see if I can do better in the Spring ...! I wish you all good light and good craik in the meantime

I'm coming and will be staying the Friday and Saturday nights.

Two points:

1) I'll need lift on the Saturday when we go out, as I'll not have a car with me.

2) My eating arrangements will depend on what others are doing. If we are all / mostly prepared to eat together thats great. I haven't booked a restaurant space yet, so I'll leave it to Rob and this thread to find out what others are doing.

Tom.

Fret not, Tom. There's usually a surplus of car space at these happenings. I took a couple of passengers in the Dales and brought 'em back alive. (Admittedly, my vehicle's upholstry was no longer the colour that Ford intended...!)

As for eating (and most other) plans, they tend to be made up as we go along. As long as Mr Miller gets his cheesecake and I get my milk of amnesia there's rarely any bloodshed!

I hate cheesecake.
Yeah, 'course you do Dave... 'course you do... well known fact...

I'm booked in. Should arrive Friday afternoon. Was touch and go for a while if I would be able to make it but it looks like I can (Oy! I heard that at the back there!).

Now just need to see if I can get to spend the rest of the week in a cottage in the Lakes or Dales...

Cheers, Bob.

Or even in Norfolk Bob; there must be something photogenic there that will keep still long enough for you to snap it.

Mentioning snaps, don't forget to bring plenty to pass around - and that includes you Tony.

I'm working on it, Dave!

I've had a pretty good shooting year what with the Dales in the Spring, a day-trip to the Lakes and a week in and around Glencoe. What I haven't had, thanks to a new job and a heatwave, is printing time.

Hopefully I should be able to knock together a couple of prints before we meet up (not long now!). Some favour quality, others favour quantity - I'll be damn lucky if I can manage either!

Well, East Anglia has the advantage that it will probably be drier than the Lakes or Dales :surprised: . I decided to try some MF colour this year as the leaves should be turning nice shades of yellow/gold/red by the end of the month (http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/HCOU-4ZLK35) so I'm thinking Tarn Hows and Borrowdale... Gawd knows how I'm going to print them though: liable to come out more magenta than gold given my eyesight... Maybe I should shoot chromes and just give any potentially decent ones to a lab to print.

Like Frank, I've not had much time in the dark since the spring meet. When I have, it's been mostly copies of existing prints, but I should get a week or so of evenings after this week, so hopefully I can get a new print or two worth showing by the meet-up (Famous Last Words; 1926 edition; Vol. 18; Chapter 27; p. 2943) ...

Cheers, Bob.
