"Trawling through all seven pages" wouldn't have availed you of much.... I don't think anything specific has actually been decided upon. Perhaps our illustrious leader (ahem, Marc!) has some ideas?

De Floriade is every 10 years in the Netherlands and won't be back until 2022, since when is it in Canberra?

So...
27th 28th September - Mick, LJH, Kevin, Molli, Andy C, SteveR, Me & Christine

Also - Yanluk, Dr Croubie and maybe Joachim, JamesR, Colin D & Wyno

That's a bona fide mob of analogue photographers! Anyone else? Folks are very welcome.

Marc!

OK so it looks like we have a weekend if I assume correctly by Shane's post. Is there a planned location/area we are looking at to stay at for 1 maybe two nights?

Just head to the Halls Gap caravan park? Good showers and close to the start of several good tracks. Pity there's no pub there...

My-Royal-Tightness was thinking of heading to one of the sites within the park, I stayed a week at a nice spot about 10-12 years ago, couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called though.

hotel now in downtown Halls Gap

You're in luck . The Kookaburra restaurant has just reopened as the Kookaburra hotel and Bistro a month ago. Still has great meals .

Well, I've now got a package of stuff for Oxleyroad, and he's got some stuff for me, so looks like I'm definitely going. My mum's away for Sept so I get to steal her car which will actually make the journey (I've already driven to melbs and back once in it), so I won't get to Murray Bridge and have to call a tow truck for my car.

I'd still prefer to cut my journey up a bit, I'll probably overnight in Robe or Naracoorte or somewhere on the way up and back, and get some Coorong-panos in along the way. Is the idea to go for Fri and Sat night in the Grampians, or just Sat? And I'm not sure of the condition of my old Scout camping tent (been about 10 years since I used it), are there cabins and such around or is everyone else in a tent/caravan?

I will be tenting. Depending whether anyone takes me up on the carpool offer will determine whether I drive or ride. If I drive up I've got several tents you'd be welcome to choose from to borrow for the weekend.

OK well I have had to make a call from the families perspective, so we'll arrive Friday night at the caravan park and check out on Sunday. Don't know if we are arriving from Melbourne or Mildura on Friday, nor do I know if we are leave to drive to Mildura or Melbourne on Sunday. We'll sort that out closer to the time. But at least we'll have a full day Saturday together.

All being well I will have a small parcel of film for the Dr. The film left Texas last Saturday, arrived Illinois Monday, and that is when the tracker ends.

Will also bring up my nastiest instant homebrand coffee to show the Dr Caffenol at work.

Woo, film! More promising than the Travelwide, I don't think that's making it in time (in which case my hiking camera falls back to Mamiya 645AF, or Pentacon 6 for some square fun). But we can still hope.

Meanwhile, how's Caffenol go with paper? I'm already bringing my pinhole suitcase, some 11x14" HDPP and MGiv, my Jobo tank and some Ilford chems...

Caffenol goes really well with paper! I've used it with Ilford and Foma RC papers and Foma fibre base really well. Obviously the Fibre paper stains a tad.

I will be there with my family. Looking forward to catch up with everyone.

Colin and I might be making the road trip on Friday night and leaving Saturday night. Short, but those who control the Treasury decree it be that way...

I won't make you jealous by saying I may hang around for the rest if the week then

OK then. We're all so glad you didn't say that, ESPECIALLY THOSE OF US WHO CAN'T COME AT ALL!!!

So if I read this, and the first thing that pops into my head is, "ooh, now I feel like taking another day off work and doing a bit more trekking around", does that make me a bad person? Or just a real bastard?

No, just an irresponsible employee

Evidently I'm the only one here with a heart! Don't worry, Peter, I shall endeavour to enjoy every second up at the Grampians on YOUR behalf. Never let it be said that no one gave you a second thought.

See, gentlemen, thoughtfulness AND sincerity! It's a gift

I showed my girlfriend photos of the grampians, and she's keen. I just have to wait and see what my work schedule will be like.
As of tomorrow I'm technically unemployed as we're setting off to central Australia on Monday for a month long road trip. Awaiting a phone call to confirm another job starting in September.

No, an irresponsible employee would spend all of his time reading photography forums and planning holidays instead of actually worki ... oh, wait

Pity that there's only 1.538846 days' worth of things to shoot there... Hate to be stuck there for that long with nothing to do but toe-nudge the mutant carniverous wombats away from your Esky!

Of course, you could drown your wanderlust at Mt Langhi winery. Mmmmm.... Shiraz....

..

You mean you didn't know?? The reason for gathering so many men together in one place is so that I'LL have plenty of things to shoot!

(What's that? He didn't mean THAT kind of shooting? Oh...)

To recap, because it's only a MONTH AND A BIT AWAY!

27th 28th September - Mick, LJH, Colin D, Kevin, Molli, Andy C, SteveR, Joachim & family, Yanluk, Dr Croubie, Me & Christine

Also - probably JamesR & Wyno

Anyone else interested? I'm thinking that the caravan park in Halls Gap would make a worthy meeting point for adventures - given it's proximity to everything, including (I recall) a decent vanilla slice across the road...

On an unrelated note, the weekend before (or maybe the weekend before that, tbd), the folks from the Melbourne Silver Mine will be doing our annual Large Format show & tell during UNSENSORED14 at Collingwood Gallery, so if anyone wanted to drop in and chat about LF cameras or Grampians ideas... specific details t.b.a. (although probably Sunday 14th after lunch).

Marc!!
