So I own a couple of Bronicas (Etrs & Etrsi ) , as for the metal vs plastic , well the lens release on the Etrs is metal and the Etrsi is plastic , that's pretty
much the extent of differences on the outside . There is less than 20 gms difference between the two bodies and a magnet sticks to all the same places on each . So I'm not so sure
there's a lot of mileage with this plastic feel of an newer body compared to the older one. And yes the new one is the lighter of them ! FWIW though , the lens are easier
to remove with the plastic release button . Peter
^ Quite correct on that , was also my reason for buying it , and of course promptly used it incorrectly and wasted a few frames .
Also , when on a tripod , I couldn't really see any difference in the negs with or without the mirror lockup . Any experience on
whether or not the shutter speed plays a roll on an improved neg ? Peter
Likely it's because the Mamiya RB67 is superior in that format.Wonder why so few people use the 6x7 GS. Just the 6x7 format is boring, or the gear is too large for field use? I carry it to the field and I do not feel it is much larger or heavier than the SQ body.

Mirror lock up will make a difference in particular conditions and it is really recommended for all shots that do not require quick release to freeze the moment. This is just to avert any possibilities of camera shake playing part in final sharpness. Alternatively, never use lock up, and when picture is not up to expectations ... just call it art.^ Quite correct on that , was also my reason for buying it , and of course promptly used it incorrectly and wasted a few frames .

... And the GS-1 is smaller and more straightforward than an RB or RZ.
No disagreement there, I was plainly going after the GS.The RB/RZ have the advantage of the rotating back, but this means they and their lenses have to cover 7x7 (seems slight but leads to a not insignificant increase in bulk). The Pentax 6x7 is more portable and for many more convenient to use.
