Incidentally, I tried Kentmere Bromide this last weekend, and was very pleasantly surprised. I normally print with VC papers, and I was blown away by the tonal range of the Bromide. I used Grades 2 and 3, and have a pack of 4 just in case.
If the Nuance is any better - WOW! I'm right now working through all of my VC papers to settle on graded papers instead. I used Dektol developer, but will be trying some VersaPrint glycin, and may enter the realm of Amidol one of these days.

Mike,

Are you suggesting that Kentmere Bromide responds to Amidol - water bath development like AZO? And what grade(s) are you using? Any grade 4 or 0 available?

Don right now I'm set up for printing grd 2 and 3 and yes I use the bromide. I use MS amidol formula and it responds very simular to AZO, grd 4 is available at freestyle but I have yet found the need to go there.

This is yet another thread I've heard people saying good things about the nuance paper, I'll have to give it a try.

Sounds like a paper I must try, especially since AZO has past away.

Photoformulary
Artcraft Chemicals
Trader Joes (Citric Acid)
B&H Photo
E-Bay (Be careful to check the specs - often not a good deal)

Do a web search - there are often really good deals from unexpected sources. Often good sources of chemicals are pool supply, cosmetic and health product supply outlets. Be careful about quality - ensure your salts are anhydrous or you will be buying a lot of water. TEA is used in cosmetics and I bought a gallon from some place on the net pretty cheap. I couldn't seem to find it when I just looked though.

Ok, Well now I want to try it. Where do you get your chemicals?

So, who makes Nuance paper ? Is it Efke ??? Or is it Foma ?? We cannot find it (the Jandc) here in greece, but if there is an Efke or Foma equivalent, there is a chance for me to try it...

Hi George,
I've been using and ordering ADOX Polywarmtone from http://www.fotoimpex.de/ . They also have Adox Nuance. SHipping isn't usually more than 20 euro and though the catalogue is in german, they're english is very good.

Now where are you able to get Efke in Athens?

James

Nuance is Efke/Adox, and has been sold under the Maco and Cachet brands as "Expo RF."

Thanks David. I think I have already tried Maco Expo RF...

Dimitri, I cannot find Efke in Athens...

A vote for Ilford Galerie and Beers developer.
Quite good combo.

Another Beer's user. As one how do you find it
works as a contrast control developer with the
papers you've used? Did you know that Beer's
A and Ansco 120, save for dilution, are the
same developer? Dan

Dan
Beers 1 until 7 alters the contrast of a graded paper considering the latitude of it, which is narrow. I usually start everything with Beers 4, and so I decide to change or not.
About Ansco 120 and Beers 1, for practical purpose I think they are the same: Metol 4.0g, 4.0g ; Sod Sulf 12.0g, 11.5g ; Sod Carb 12.0g, 10g ; Pot Brom 0.6g, 0.55g respectively. ( if I am right in calculus ... )
