Spoke cards and mismatched wheels! That's like sooo 2009!

This may be a "memorial bike". We have them around here from time to time, usually painted white, to mark the spot where someone has been killed in a biking accident.

Got an email from Dwayne's today telling me a package was shipped. I think this is the roll I sent to them on 12/23. I sent another roll on 12/28 that got there on 12/30, I hope I hear about that one soon.

I need to correct my earlier comments. The notice they sent me was for another, earlier order I made. I got it in the mail the other day, and it wasn't Kodachrome. They have sent me nothing yet regarding my Kodachrome that they received on the 29th. Who knows if they have even processed it yet.

I got mine back in Saturday's mail, and an email notice was sent out on Thursday. It got there on the 28th, and was checked into their system on the 29th. But the web site still says they're working on orders for the 29th, a week later. I'd guess order processing is still WAY backed up.

The processing machine was shut down for good on Jan. 18 in the afternoon. That does not mean that all the film has been mounted and packaged for return shipping. I think my slides will get back in the next few days. Good things come to those who wait.

According to Dan Bayer at the Kodachrome Project, there is still over 2,000 rolls left to cut, mount, box and ship, so those of you with orders from the 30th (myself included) still have a long way to go.

I got my final 8 rolls back last week. It was a mix of 25 and 200. The 25 was in the back of the freezer & I'd forgotten all about it. Fortunately I had a good search early December. Very little colour shift, most of the rolls are spot on.
As usual I requested that Dwayne's not mount but return them cut & sleeved. They must have run out of sleeves as all the rolls were uncut but with just a long strip of white paper against the film & then rolled inside a card core. Nothing wrong with it, the film is fine; just thought it looked a bit unusual. I suppose they had so much film processing they ran out of supplies and had to improvise.

They seem to have stopped using the sleeves a while ago. An order I sent in earlier last year came back that way. Probably a cost-cutting measure, since presumably the supply of sleeving material is unrelated to Kodachrome usage.

The paper-and-core storage of rolls is the only non-mount/cut option I've known them to offer.

This is how I used to get mine... when they remembered. Half the time they came back mounted anyway. I liked them unmounted because for awhile it seemed that there were a lot of messy, dirty slides coming back. There were quite a few complaints about four or five years back.

I had a sudden change of location after I sent mine off. Luckily I was living right down the street from my parents and my Dad called me last night to tell me it had arrived. So I'm eagerly awaiting seeing my first and only roll of Kodachrome this weekend. Hopefully I didn't screw up too bad.

I just got a notice from Dwayne's that the shipped a package today. It should be the roll that got to them on the morning of the 30th, my last.

I received my last five rolls yesterday. They had arrived at Dwaynes on Dec 28. I never shot much Kodachrome back in the day but when I read the news I bought a bunch off eBay and shot a total of 17 rolls.

I think these last five really gave me an appreciation of it. There are modern films that are superior in all objective ways but nothing else quite has that look. I'll miss it.

They finally took the money out of my bank account yesterday. I hope that means that it is in the mail.

I sent two rolls off around December 23 and got them back last Thursday (January 20). Just yesterday I had a chance to really look at them. The scans look terrible. Some have digital noise, others look overly sharpened or smoothed (?), and the colors are way off on a few of them. A few look really good. I'm going to scan some of the questionable ones myself in the near future to see what they really look like.

You never know. The 8mm could be fun.

Towards the very end, I had people effectively throwing their unused Kodachrome at me for next to nothing or nothing (plus postage). I doubt those last 18 rolls would have happened were it not for this.

Speaking of which: lxdude, I can't wait to share with you what good came forth from those three rolls.
I'll be happy to see them!
