Anybody Here Using the Plaubel Peco Junior?

6.5x9cm Plaubel Metal Cassette Back Holders Films by Nokton48, on Flickr

I have a lot of expired 6.5x9cm film in my freezer. I am starting to figure out what I have. I did load up the truck for sure! The Back has only "Made in Germany"stamped on it. Nothing else. 75mm x 118mm are width and length. I use the Combiplan Tanks for 6.5x9 developing six plates at a time. Works good! Like inversion agitation D23 1:1. The Orwo NP22 and NP15 are interesting, bought multiples from Yugoslavia.

Plaubel 6x6 roll film back modified to 6x7.

Counter dial taken from 6x9 back. Allows for 8 exposures of 6x7 per 120 roll. No overlapping negatives, though!

Received a much anticipated package today from Joel & Adam over at S.K. Grimes!

Back in June, I sent them two lenses to be modified for use on my Peco Jr.

1) The electronic shutter & Nikkor 80mm f/2.8 lens cells that had been removed from a Plaubel Makina 67
2) The "N f/4 65mm L" lens for Mamiya 7/7ii

The Plaubel Makina 67 lens was re-mounted into a Copal 1 shutter & installed onto a Peco Jr Copal 1 original lens board.

The Mamiya 7/7ii 65mm f/4 lens was completely disassembled from the lens housing, and re-mounted into a Synchro-Compur 00 shutter. It was then placed onto a Peco Jr Copal 0 recessed lens board with a custom Copal 0 to Compur 00 mounting flange.

Even though I intended to exclusively shoot 6x7 with these lenses, both appear to cover 6x9!

More than excited to put these into use!

Magnificent Work Ivan! WOW New Plaubel onto Olde German Plaubel Peco German. Bet they are both easy to look through. I like 6x7cm too to make 8x10s and Graphic Wind XL Backs are what Jim Galvin shaped the camera bail to fit the Graphic WInd lever. Anyway 8 6x7cm negs work good in the plastic neg pages.

Thank you Daniel!
I've just arrived back in Spain, after a summer in Michigan. With being back in Spain, I'm now reunited with my Epson V700.
Having owned my Peco Junior since March 2025, I'm just now seeing images made with it for the first time.

What a fun camera!

The Plaubel 150mm F4.2 is finished completely, here's a digitest shot Peco Junior Body with homemade Sony Digital Back NexC3
Looks sharp on the center dot to me. Next test is to shoot some slow film with this lens. So far I like it, Glad I pounced on it

I'd like to build one of these from one of my 6x6 Makina Backs. I bought recently the last set of 8 exposure knobs from Mr. Binder. Is it tough to change out the counter knob? This is really cool and totally unique.

Changing the counter dial is quite straightforward. You have to just remove the leatherette, and it will expose a flat head screw. Swap them out & you’re all set.

The hardest part is actually cutting the aluminum and steel sheet metal. I cut the aluminum (outer-most layer) with a utility knife. About 2mm beneath the aluminum (this is the cavity where the dark slide sits) is steel. The steel is more difficult to cut. I used a combination of utility knife + hacksaw.

I would imagine, if you had a miniature jigsaw / scroll saw, this would be much easier (faster!) to do.

edit: be sure to file and sand everything nice and smooth, as to not damage or scratch your film!

Yep I have a Harbor Freight Scroll Saw I use all the time for cutting. Thanks Ivan!

I've been thinking about adapting the plaubel 35mm roll back to 24x70 is.
Maybe it's time to get a saw

A 35mm Pano Makina Back sounds like a great idea! Could be 9cm wide.............

Please post more if you do this! Or even if you don't. LOL

Plaubel Peco Junior Std Bellows 180mm F5.5 Schneider Tele Arton Manfrotto Head by Nokton48, on Flickr

This camera packs into a Olde Small Zone VI Bag, with Plaubel Makina Sheet Film Holders, and 8 Shot Plaubel Makina Roll Film Backs. Plus original lenses depending on subject matter. This is an original 180mm Schneider F5.5 Tele-Arton, in a self-cocking Prontor Shutter, which is working great. A fun lens to use on the Peco Junior. And with Makina Backs, I still prefer the two-position Makina Viewfinder, I wonder if it is stock, or made in a shop? Anyway it works a treat.

I have tried many different tripods with this, I decided on Manfrotto Hex Plates, with the 3047 three way Head. The tripod if the Manfrotto 3021, a good trade-off for me, weight versus stability with this smallish Technical Camera.

Excellent! Well done. I could use one of these myself. I do remember that I have to mount the one I own, at a 45 degree orientation. This doesn't really affect it's use.
