> if the group size isn't too big.

The last rounds, I had to send only one (or a few) prints to one addressee. I hope this is the case this time too. So the group size does not matter for me.

Oh, I had assumed this would work like the postcard exchange; send and receive to/from many.

@Rolleiflexible what's the concept for this one? I'm OK with either, but I'd like to limit myself to sending out 8 prints or so.

My plan was to circulate participant addresses to the group, for each to send a print to each of the others. If eight feels like the right number, we can close the pool.

Thanks for clearing that up

If eight feels like the right number, we can close the pool.

You could also consider asking people their personal maximum, just like in the postcard exchange. Although this does make the organization on your end a bit more complicated; I'd understand if you wouldn't feel like it.

My sense is that if someone else wants to join, that’s okay — I don’t see much point in rigid rules. If we get a late rush, we can figure it out then. I’ll hold off until next week to circulate addresses.

Since this is an Alt print exchange, I think you will scare away potential participants with a large number of recipients. Some alt printing techniques require a lot of time and effort. I'd probably join if there was one recipient (although the only alt printing I can do is cyanotype and lith printing (which is only marginally "alt") - and I'm not very comfortable with either).

+1
I was prepared sending something to one destination.

Same for me. If this format will be similar to the postcard exchange then I would be limited to smaller prints and likely need more time to complete, but I'm not opposed to that either if it means more prints for me!

I apologize for being less specific.

I had envisioned that participants would mail their prints to each of the others. That would allow each participant to print on his/her own schedule.

I don't see smaller sizes as an issue. Smaller prints make it easier and cheaper to print and mail out a number of prints.

Assume that is the plan for this exchange. (I have no connection to past exchanges, and may not repeat this exercise going forward.) Does it affect anyone's interest in participating?

I might be too late for this round, but this would be a great excuse for me to get out my stuff for salt printing or kallitypes again. Sign me up for whenever I can participate.

I was going to close the pool tomorrow so if you want to participate this round, you are most welcome.

Take this for what its worth, given that the only way I could participate is if you opened it up to those who add toning to their silver gelatin workflow.
One option that makes participation manageable is to have a limited number print exchange.
Something like each person agrees to send up to four prints.
Then just ask George Nova Scotia to send you a copy of the software (designed for the Postcard Exchange) he inherited to do the job of semi-randomly determining the lists of names and mailing addresses for everybody, with the quantity choice set to 4.
That way as many people as may be interested could commit without having to worry about being faced with suddenly being required to make and, almost more importantly, buy postage and mail more prints than they wanted to.
Heck, I could probably help with the software work, even without receiving a print (although I wouldn't say no ).

I just DM'd you my address. Even if we get 8-10 participants I will send to everyone.

That said, if you decide for any reason to change the rules of the exchange and have some people send to some others but not necessarily everyone, I am happy to help with properly generating assignments. I ran a print exchange over on Reddit at the end of last year. We had 50 some odd people sign up and some wanted to send to just one other; some wanted to send and receive from two others, etc. etc. It wasn't too hard to figure out how to make the assignments with a spreadsheet. Occupational hazard of being a data analyst by day I guess.

I don't want to send out eight Lith prints. It is rather time-consuming making a decent one.

Okay, I've closed the participant list. It includes two people who are not Photrio members but who are accomplished alt printers. Here are the names of those who are joining, and who have sent me addresses:

1. Me
2. (TheFlyingCamera)
3. (mfohl)
4. (fgorga)
5. (Koraks)
6. (tnp651)
7. (BHuij)
8. (offlist; C.P.)
9. (offlist; N.J.)

I will circulate addresses to participants later today. This will be fun!

A reminder coming from the perspective of many, many rounds of the Postcard Exchange.
We prefer that any public discussions in the threads refence people by their forum names, rather than their actual names.
Some people have no problem with their actual names being public - my member name is an example of that, and Sanders' signature block being another. Others prefer the partial anonymity of just using forum names. And it isn't easy sometimes to tell who has what preference.

I just received my first Alt print today, "Kenwood Park" by Tom Nelson. It is a very nice scene of winter trees, a palladium toned kallitype print. Very nice, Tom, thanks very much.

PS - I always put my exchange activity in the Forum, rather than the "conversations". That way, I don't generate so many emails.

I'll have to be a bit more patient for receiving the ones that are headed my way. But that's OK! Besides, mine are underway as well! I don't know how long they'll take, but let's say 10-14 days from now, or so? Let's see.
