Martin Schoeller: Mamiya RZ67
No he didn't hire them they were completely unaware he was shooting them with a Box Brownie at the time, they were actually both show girls appearing for the summer season at a local Blackpool theatre show having a few hours off. Why?
I understand that both girls were models that he hired.
The girls were actually " Tiller Girls" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RjBmAZPkjc having a few hours off.No he didn't hire them they were completely unaware he was shooting them with a Box Brownie at the time, they were actually both show girls appearing for the summer season at a local Blackpool theatre show having a few hours off.
Fan Ho, he used a Rolleiflex to make some of the best pictures of Hong Kong (or anywhere for that matter).
I know of tons in 35mm, a few really big ones in LF, but can't really think of any in MF. Sure, Strand used a Mamiya TLR at one point, and Ansel used a Hasselblad, but any others?
I find it interesting that reading some of the pre WW11 photographic books what we call "medium format" now like 6X6 cameras in those days were referred to as miniature cameras.
BTW - not obvious at first about HCB:
Most famous photos "Behind the Gare Saint-Lazare" was taken 1932. and he got his first Leica 1933. So it was shot on medium format.
