Hi -
I have been around here a few months but never took the time to do the formal hello. I am one of the repentant photographers. Raised in film, studied it in college, spent tons of time in the darkroom back in college days doing it right; then - graduated, got busy building career/family, didn’t have the time to continue film as my career path wasn’t related to photography. Then in 2011 I realized how much I hate sitting in front of a computer all day (I am a computer programmer) and at night editing photos ($hotoshop, sigh...), so I gave all my $igital equipment to my wife (she was thrilled) and got myself 2 new (to me) cameras (35 and MF) and have been thrilled since. I love Apug and appreciate all the great conversations, advice and the meet-ups too (Photostock was amazing)! Making some great friends online/offline and just want to recognize how special this place is! Happy continued photographing this summer to you all (or winter depending on where you are).

Sorry to have left, but happy to be back!

Best,
Andy

Man, that is the story of my life, almost word for word. Only the dates have been changed to protect the foolish.

Welcome home!

Welcome to APUG!

Welcome aboard. I totally understand. I'm a network engineer. The last thing I want for a hobby is more messing around with computers in my off time.

Andy - hello and welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts. Glad to have you amongst us film users. :D

Hi Andy - we're glad to have you here!

I hear you.. Reports pecked out on the laptop all day. I loath to take it home.

When my desktop computer at home (which I reaerly touch) was too old, I made my wife go out and buy the replacement, and sign on for whatever tech support (beyond my occassional cleaning the mouse ball) it needs from the shop she got it from.

Down to the darkroom after the kids are mostly to bed. Usually on night my wife is out late to see a play or at rehearsal. The radio announcers change at midnight if she has not yet come home. Either of these events is my cue to get to bed, so as not to be too grumpy the next day.

Glad you are back on the silver side.
