I may have time to develop the roll of film that I shot yesterday with a .2mm pinhole laser cut in a body cap for a FED 2 camera but I don't have much faith in anything coming out. I had a great time trying to discover different things to shoot pinhole style and when it was done I opened the camera and loaded the film into a developing spool and into a tank.
One problem...I've been shooting a lot of medium format and totally blew it with this roll.
I forgot you have to rewind 35mm film prior to opening the camera so as soon as I opened it I knew what I'd done.
I covered it with my hand and shirt as best I could and then ran to the darkroom to load the film in a tank but I've a feeling I ruined the entire roll.

I almost didn't go out. It was raining and in the mountains where I'd planned on going it was supposed to be snowing. In the end I decided what the heck, if nothing else it would be a nice drive so I headed on up to Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park, about 40 minutes from my house. Once there it really wasn't too bad. A bit of rain and snow here and there, kind of cold, but nothing that was going to kill the day.

I had two pinhole cameras with me (plus a couple of old rangefinders). A Mamiya C220 with a coke can pinhole taped on the front and a Reality So Subtle 6x17. I shot a few frames with the Mamiya but haven't finished the roll yet so no pictures to show. The 6x17 was my real reason for going out though. I'd received it a couple weeks earlier and was waiting for Sunday to try it out. Its a joy to use and early results are quite promising! I shot one roll, 4 shots on 120 film in this format, with the submitted one being the last.

Here it is: http://pinholeday.org/gallery/2015/?id=758

I'm so glad you did go out, Ed! That's a fantastic pano. Nicely done. I have two 6x17 type pinhole pano cameras (A Vermeer 6x17 and a Clipper 3D printed 6x17) and they are both wonderful devices.

I almost didn't shoot yesterday either. The day started out cold and wet in a very PNW way, but I held out till about 2:30 and it warmed a bit and the drizzle stopped. I shot with one of last summer's Cookie Tin cameras I built for Solargraphy, but this time around I bought a box of 8x10 Delta 100 sheet film, so this is my first ever 8x10 film neg. (only took me forty years to finally get around to trying LARGE format film!)

This is my contribution to WPD, entitled "Can't See The Forest":

Well, I haven't uploaded to the WPPD site yet, still optimistic that I might make a few contact prints and scan one. Meanwhile, I did flop my negatives on a light box and photograph them with other technology to get 'em digitized (Ye Olde Scanner does not do 8x10 transparencies!) And I tried inverting the results in an editor to get what I hope prints will look like. In general I'm pleased with the results -- won't claim to "have it down to a science," but consistency of results have improved over the last few outings.

What I've got so far is now online in my PBase stuff.

Late last night I tried to do a safelight test with a little Superbright E27-R8-G red LED bulb that was recommended to me after I whined about a Wratten #2 being so dim. Alas, the recommender must be using blue sensitive X-ray film, because my green sensitive Fuji stuff didn't do so well -- though the light was indeed wonderfully bright!

Here's my entry: http://pinholeday.org/gallery/2015/?id=1251

I suppose I might have had better "luck" with fresh film (instead of 80-year-old nitrate stock) and fresh developer (instead of the dregs of some D23 I've had under the sink for a few months) ... it's not exactly "watch out Ansel I'm comin' for ya" is it?

Negative scan with some post-processing to make it look like something rather than nothing.

I like it. A bit of a Fox Talbot style.

I like Mocha Joe's! And pdeeh your photo is evocative, I like it.
I'm going to develop a couple tonight... hopefully they won't be totally overexposed, I have a tendency to overexpose ( lots of UV! ) at the beach.

I went on the pinhole photowalk and got these with the Nikon N90s and a home made pinhole body cap.

Wa-a-a-hoo! I did three successful contact prints on Ilford MGIV RC last night and with My Faire Spouse assisting, selected one to submit. To my amazement, it seems to have been approved in a matter of minutes, there must be some mighty busy volunteers out there!

It is found here.

I added the three print scans to the gallery I linked to yesterday.

I screwed up the new to me timer on developing one sheet of film and apparently overcooked it. The film tends to be contrasty anyway, so since I use the enlarger as a light source, I used a #0 contrast filter to print that one with some success.

This year was definitely one of the better ones -- even the weather cooperated!

Is your spelling controle off? I suppose you meant "My Fairy Spouse" ??

I like all three. I can see why you submitted this one, but I slightly prefer print 3.B (at this moment in time).

Yes, I originally was going to go with that -- the gross compositional characteristics that show in a thumbnail do very nicely with it. But my other half preferred the "full" frame of 4.A vs the sort of large white triangle of sky in 3.B, a valid point which made me reconsider. At the 700 pixels max size either works OK, the differences are perhaps more obvious holding the 8x10 prints in hand. 3.B was a composition similar (but a different bridge) to last year too so I figured, eh, be different. It is also a chance to see a surprising amount of fine detail from all those tree branches, etc. to tout the capability of the homebrew 8x10 camera. (One of last year's was in a local show and I commented to a viewer "Not bad for being taken without a lens, hunh?" ) 3.B was from the negative that got over-cooked. In the first print I made from it, with #2 contrast filtration it looked almost as though it was done with lithographic film. With a #0 filter it's still hardly lacking in contrast, but more like a "normal" photo.

The previous two years I spent a bunch of money on 8x10 filmholders, maybe one of these next years I'll splurge on some "real" photographic film to get a more normal spectral response. Although I feel I have begun to at least vaguely understand how to get what I'm after with this X-ray stuff. The emulsion must be very thin and permeable, as I used HC110 1+63 for developer and found 3:30 was plenty of developing time. Considering something like Acros is up around 9 minutes at that dilution, I was surprised.

A few minutes ago I did a first cruise of what is already up at the WPPD site, there is some quite nice work.

Lot of good images this year,

I started late, wandered a bit, not the best,
but got one image on the day at least...

Here's the homemade 8x10 atop new platform I rigged, complete with velcro!

A nice image, the platform idea is pretty cool -- you can take the camera off and use it for a watercolor easel!

You did well!! Glad you wen't, aren't you?
BTW: try also colour film with this pinhole camera like Superia X-TRA 400. you'll be surprised.

Thank you! I'm very glad, the day ended up quite well.

I'm looking forward to some color film. I'll start with some negative film but eventually, once I get a solid handle on what this thing likes, I want to try some Velvia 50.

Good stuff DW! I like them all but do prefer the "official" print. I think its the trees, and as you mentioned the detail. Nice bridge, and it looks like a nice location in general.

This is pretty cool. I like how old it looks, very much of an older time... except maybe for the girls in the windows.. but I've nothing against pictures of girls in windows. :D

I printed my shots taken on WWPD the other night. I was at an antique flea market most of the day, so I brought the 4x5 pinhole with, to see if I could capture some images there. (bought a Zeiss Ikon folder and a Argus C4 while there!) The place was so incredibly busy that I had to wait until the afternoon when the crowd thinned out or the shots would have been difficult to orchestrate. I am now using Arista EDU grade 2 pre-flashed paper as the negative.

Later in the day I took a shot at our county courthouse, which I was pretty pleased with:

And this shot of our local static train display:

I think I might upload the train shot to the WWPD site.

Later in the day I took a shot at our county courthouse, which I was pretty pleased with..

I like the courthouse, there are a lot of things to notice: the one evergreen vs. the bare limbs, the sunlit building in the distance is a kind of receding version of the courthouse, the glint of sun off the top of the statue. I think it needs to be flipped horizontally, there is something about it that makes me think the shadows are running in the "backwards" direction.

I'm having a hard time choosing which one to upload to the WPPD site too.

By the way, what is that on top of the pillar?
