Damn it! I loved his photographs and his videos from the bike rides along the shore. Andy, rest in peace.

I'm very sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family.

Sorry to hear such sad news. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Andy.

RIP Andy

I'm very sorry to hear this news, he and his contributions to this forum over many years will be greatly missed, rest in peace Andy.

So sorry to hear this.

My condolences to his family.

Again thank you for your kind messages which I will pass on.
I've been given his Rolleicord vb which has a part used film in it. Once I've got it developed I'll post his final images either on my profile (with appropriate credits) or on his (if I can find his account password).

Wow, what a sad bolt from the blue this is. I enjoyed his photos, opinions, humor, and bike riding videos both here and on fb. My condolences go out to you and the family, Rich.
I look forward to seeing Andy's (and your) most recent photos from his/your Rolleicord!
All the best...

I am truly saddened to hear that Andy has passed. I fully appreciate his choice of doing so without publicity, but, selfishly, I would have liked to have had the chance to say good bye. Andy was contentious (who doesn't love a good argument?), and a great guy. When 7/7 hit the UK he extended some reassuring words to my wife, a brit, at a time and place that only allowed internet access. That kindness and his general lust for living will not be forgotten.

RIP Andy.

I just caught wind of this and am so shocked. Andy and I messaged quite regularly, shared a lot of the same views and had many a laugh throughout the years. It was always easy to confide in him and enjoy his opinions on a variety of matters. R.I.P. Andy.

Oh... I somehow didn't see this thread until now. How sad. Andy was quite a decent fellow. RIP.

One thing worth mentioning from the moderator's perspective is that Andy seemed like one of those guys at the beginning who was getting into all kinds of conflicts over politics and such who would eventually make a "grand exit," but unlike the rest of them, he managed to maintain his personality and his views while adapting to the place and respecting the forum ethos, and making it work. I'll miss his voice in the conversation.

He seemed to have a change of outlook two or three years ago.

He used to argue about things such as climate change, claiming it was nonsense but more recently was speaking out in favour of environmental and ecological issues and publicising some of the ridiculous things our current government are trying to do with social issues. More so on Facebook than here.

Steve.

Back in the old days and under the influence of fixer and developer I'd write "stories" of some of the more prominent members here.

Andy was one of them, as he and I had many a fun argument and often agreement.

He was a fun guy. When I left here after going digital a few years ago, then returned I sort of forgot about him because I rarely saw his posts.

Anyways here is an archived story of Andy from 2006 : (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Thanks for the memories, dude.

I'm very sorry to hear of Andy's passing. He was a real character, and one with integrity.

I wish Andy's family peace as they mourn, and that tears will turn into good memories and good laughs one of these days. Rest in peace.

Only saw this thread today. My sincere condolences to his family.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I always enjoyed his posts. Condolences to his family and his friends, among whom I suspect are many like me who only knew him online.

It makes sense now why his contact on this site and FB tapered off in recent times. We exchanged reminiscences a few times about his trip to Australia many years ago. In fact, I just returned from a holiday on the north coast of NSW near a town he remembered fondly. Sad news indeed. Vale Andy.
