I was just informed this morning that Andy Kewell passed away in mid December. I first connected with him here on apug, and later on Facebook and Twitter. He could be abrasive at times, but he enjoyed a good argument, and never backed away from his views. I enjoyed his posts and his photography.

I am so sad about this... he was a good friend here and on fb. An avid cyclist and great photographer. Sorry, Banana (I was a bit overcome by the news) if you are still on fb please contact Aristotelis. Him and the 'Old Bean' were buddies.

His last post:

Well done Sean. From little acorns... you've certainly created a truly worthwhile repository of analogue photography.

Very sorry to hear this news - never knew him but he was kind enough to comment on a picture of mine once.
Always sad to hear of familiar 'names' that have gone.
Condolences to his family.

Oh, man. Raise a glass, everyone. Andy, we will miss you.

Does anyone here know him well enough to get condolences to the family?

Andy was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July. He chose to keep his illness to a handful of family & friends, I think so that he could carry on as near to normal as possible without lots of attention.
It's nice to see your comments and to know that not only will he be missed by his family but also by many friends he made through his interests.
I'll be certain to pass on your condolences to our parents.

Andy hadn't posted much on here over the last year or so but was regularly making posts on Facebook, mainly about issues which he felt strongly about. He certainly gave no clues as to his condition which, as you say, was the way he wanted it.

Thanks for coming on here to let us know.

Steve.
