The classic harder for Albumin print is iso-propanol 70% (Christopher James book)
I 've not iso-propanol at home . But 2 other chemicals. Can I use ? :

ROLLEI Rollei RMB Black Magic 5 Additive (Glutaraldehyde) (used for gelatine hardening )
or
TETENAL Hardener (Aluminiumsulfate , Acetic acid) (used for x-ray film hardening )

I use VERY few grains at a time, of Chrome Alum, as a hardener when I use liquid emulsion.

NOTE: It has many various names as well as above, but you are looking for a purple crystal and not, as far as I know of its uses, white alum crystals, which are used in pickling vegetables.

I found it cheap and easy to get on ebay.co.uk

There is a good description of it on this link:

Fix. Add 200g Sodium Thiosulphate (anhydrous) to 1L of distilled water to make a simple fixing bath. This is plain fixer...

Rubbing alcohol not easily available in Netherlands? I would try to get that before experimenting with the others.

+1 If you are going to the time and trouble to double coat albumen, get some rubbing alcohol!

I think sometimes the paper was steamed, which essentially cooks the albumen to harden it... you might be able to find old instructions for that somewhere.... but I think you should find some rubbing alcohol.

Thank you for your reactions. May be iso-propanol is best to order. It is not expensive and easy available online, but takes 2 days before I have package at my home.
The other 2 products I had already on the shelf here at home, they are perfect for gelatine emulsions. I'am a starter with albumin, So I ask here the question on this forum
