A few questions.

I picked up an Aires 35-iiiA from a thrift shop for like ... €10. After I fixed the sticky shutter I was left with te wind lever which doesn't stop at all.
It winds the film fine. The counter works. Shutter release works but after winding the film once to the new frame, the wind lever keeps winding - with a little less resistance- and doesn't halt for the shutter release.

I had the camera open at the button and cleaned out some brown goo, but found no solution there.
I do not dare take off the top, as I'm afraid I'll mess something up.

Right now the workaround seems to be in work flow: wind to the next frame after focusing and immediately take the picture.

But it's such a beautiful camera. Any advice on how to fix this? Google tells me to go to Camera42 in Tilburg. Any of the Dutch people have experience there? Or should I just leave it for now and load it with some film and test it out?

Not a name I recognize and from what I can see on the website, not much more info there... Maybe @koraks knows them?

Nope; the address is a private domicile, no shop as such. I never heard of them and their website forwards to a single image with contact info.

For your €10 camera I honestly don't think I'd recommend sending it to a commercial repairman as the cost of labor of working on it would exceed the cost of acquiring a similar camera in working condition.

If you're looking for enthusiasts who could be of help, try analoogfotoforum.nl and contact user 'mschekkerman'.

I would suggest attempting to contact the blogger of Japan Vintage Camera on YouTube (sorry, can't remember his name).

He has several videos on Aires cameras and even repairs them; he might give you some tips.

To me, it sounds like the winding mechanism is gummy and not allowing a pawl to drop in place at the end of the winding stroke.

I have several Aires rangefinders and they are typically "gummy" from the aged lubricants they used to assemble the camera. It might just take a cleaning under the top plate...

Hasselblad A12 backs do something similar when gummed up. I've cleaned with a couple drops of lighter fluid or movie film cleaner.

This type of problem often arises from congealed grease that prevents a latch from falling into place. I can't offer specific advice, sorry.

I'll do that. I suspect cleaning under the top.plate will.do the tricky. I just need to know what I can expert there to determine if I dare open it up. Or if there is a less invasive method to fix it.
