Welcome from England (where Norfolk is). Where is Norfolk Island?

Steve.

Norfolk Island? Definitely in my to-do list!
Someday soon.

(for the folks who don't know: it's off the coast of Qld, Australia, about 1400km east from Brisbane. And a place full of history!

Welcome! Enjoy this place: the knowledge here is amazing!

Welcome to APUG from western New England USA

Welcome aboard.

My parents were there in the late 70's and have always wanted to go back. Always sounded like such an interesting place.

Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Greetings from Richmond Va. Yes, there is a lot of useful information here on Apug.

Now when us folks in small-town USA/Canada/anywhere... complain that it's too hard to find film dealers, labs etc., we'll just have to bite our tongues. I can't imagine how difficult (and expensive) it must be to be a photographer on Norfolk. On the other hand, what a beautiful place to be if you love photography. I have wanted to visit Norfolk (and Pitcairn) ever since I first heard the stories of Fletcher Christian and Capt. Bligh.

Welcome to APUG. Please do post pictures of your beautiful island.
Cheers,

I don't recall whether the mutineers stopped at Norfolk Island prior to heading east and finding Pitcairn, or did the Bounty stop there when Capt. Bligh was still in charge? Or, is it where Bligh and his loyalists went after being cast off in the small boat? Anyway, it's great to have representation out there where hardly any of us have ever been nor ever will go - a place that has such a historical pedigree at that.

Where do you shop for materials? I suppose fedex delivers using jet powered aircraft? If you had to get your stuff via square rigger, it might take awhile.

Hi Karl,
My only knowledge of Norfolk Island is that I have one of your car license plates in my collection (sad or what??????)
Must be a wonderful place to live.
Best wishes,
Steve

cool thing to have this international line of communication going, ain't the internet grand! welcome Bounty ( as in Mutiny on the). Are you related to Fletcher Christian?

Welcome to the forum Karl. What a fantastic location!

Welcome to the forum from another islander.
I would like to read more about your island.

Watawieh yorlyi, Bounty! Memories of Norfolk Island <sigh>...
I stayed at Aunt Em's in Burnt Pine in 1995... a long, long time ago now, and even longer in terms of the range of photographic skills "then and now". I 'cut my teeth' using tranny film at Anson Bay photographing the beautiful rounded boulders in sunset there. So you'll know those places!

To everybody here, if you get the chance, visit Norfolk, it's 1500km E or so from Sydney in the wild blue South Pacific. What's your favourite place there Karl? I remember the unbelievably lush green serried hills, the Norfolk pines and having to stop and wait (for most of the morning) for the cows to move (on NOrfolk Island, cows have right of way on the roads!!). The airfares look cheap and enticing nowadays...
