I was going to order a copy but they charge £21 for shipping to Finland! 21 pounds!! For a book?
Also the minimum order quantity is £100. Is there an other way to get this book?

Mats

I'd contact Silverprint by phone or e-mail and check. There might be no way round this charge :sad:but this charge allows for a large order of goods up to quite a heavyweight which then makes it reasonable.

As Silverprint has agreed that this book will be shipped as one item it might be that the site's shipping charges which allow for a lot of items up to quite heavy weight has not been amended for this "one-off" agreement to deliver one book.

It is worth checking.

Mats, email Silverprint, or PM Martin Reed here on APUG. I believe they have waived their minimum order requirements for anyone ordering this book.

Hold it!

Hang on everybody, this is day 1 of a premature launch. Tim's books turned up earlier than expected, and we gave an original date of availability from Aug 1, with the "festivities", ie roll-out launch events from the start of September. So give us another day to sort it out.

I think the girls in our office were unprepared & in some cases quoted courier shipping which covered up to 25kg, what we would normally use when shipping substantial amounts of paper, portfolios etc.

We will be doing the utmost to give the best shipping price on Tim's book wherever you are - hopefully you might be surprised that it's lower than you were dreading, I'll thrash it out tomorrow morning & post again.

Thanks for the patience,

Martin Reed

Martin,

Your efforts in collaboration with Tim Rudman are to be commended. I have a copy ordered new from the USA a few years ago but would give a strong recommendation to buy if anyone reading this is interested in toning and doesn't have a copy from the first print run.

Carriage Rates

At last, carriage rates, these are on single volumes of Tim Rudman's Toning book, sent in a mailing carton, £ sterling;

UK; £5.95
This includes traceable delivery, 48 hours from our despatch

Europe; £8.70

ROW (rest of the world inc. US) £15.80

Both Europe & ROW are airmail, travelling as printed papers, which is a considerable saving over standard airmail. There is no VAT in any of the above charges, as being a book it's VAT exempt.

There's some small print against the item in our e-commerce site;

http://www.silverprint.co.uk/ProductByGroup.asp?PrGrp=162

... important thing is if you're ordering from outside the UK disregard the £100 minimum, it doesn't apply to this item.

I received the book yesterday -- in Chicago -- and could not be happier. It's among the best instructional photo books I've ever seen. Wonderfully detailed and lavishly illustrated, it manages to be both comprehensive and easy to follow. Thanks to Dr. Rudman for all the work in making this available again, and to Silverprint for all the work in distributing it.

Received my copy today, and very happy with it. The print rendition of the subtle colours in the sample photos is remarkably consistent with the first printing.

If only the cost of ordering this book wasn't so high for those of us in the USA. I'd love to get a copy. :sad:

I am puzzled. Does that figure of 32.00 refers to 32 pounds sterling? I thought that Silverprint had the exclusive distribution rights but your last sentence indicates that by November Amazon will be selling it for $25 in total including postage cost which is about half of £32 and way below its retail price.

Can you clarify? Thanks

I had put a preorder in to Amazon for the book, which was estimated to be in stock around Nov. at a price of $25,now I hope it is the same book and price, I will go back and check it out.As far as that fancy looking L thing is, thats what it states on Silver print web site,the postage may or may not be right,but thats what the email receipt says , don't know the exchange rate but should be around $50,$60 bucks US.

Thanks. It now makes sense and in fact if you have the total cost from Silverprint right which I am sure you have then given that $47.00 works out to be only cents cheaper than the Silverprint price there would seem to be little incentive to wait for Amazon in November.

I urge you settlers in the colonies to buy from Silverprint and I will personally request that the King reduces the tax on the tea in those ships in Boston harbour. :D:

Where can you preorder this on Amazon? None of the listings that come up under "Tim Rudman" offer this option. The cost through Silverprint is more than £32, it's £40 w/ shipping to the US, which comes out to be about $63 USD.

Not sure where this Amazon information is coming from. Tim & I have no intention at present of offering it through Amazon & they have no bulk purchase in place for it. We could sell it as a private vendor, but Amazon have a 'cap' on book shipment charges, which on something as bulky as Tim's toning book means a thumping loss on the shipping outside the UK.

We're sending it at 'printed papers' rate, which is about as low as it gets, around half that of regular airmail.

I really wanted to order the book, but had to abandon it as Silverprint requires a minimum of £100 order :sad: Is there a way to buy the book without this restriction somewhere?

Just ignore the '£100', the system's set to accept a smaller order for this item. Put the standard carriage against the item & we'll email back with the actual charge for your location.
