Follow-up

Thanx again for all the input. I exposed a roll on 7.05.14, using a tripod and bracketing my exposures, and finally developed it last weekend. I really like the effect, and think I'll have fun with it.

I'm not good at scanning, and intend to wet-print sometime, so I used a borrowed Epson 2580 I let the scanner do it's own thing with adjusting levels. I re-sized to 800 pixels wide to not take up too much space, and did no other adjusting - just quick-and-dirty scans to get a look at photos.

Rollei Retro 400s using an Hoya R72 filter (except the first exposure).
Developed in HC-110 dilution D for 8.125 minutes @ ~ 68^ F.
Here are a few examples looking down my driveway:

F8, 1/250 second (no filter)

The above is my baseline, set at ISO 400. I'm not sure if it needed more exposure, or if it's the scan (or my processing).

Pretty damned good if you ask me, great result.

Looks like the one with a good effect as well as some inherent sharpness of plants and things, is the 1/4 of a second exposure, perhaps one at f/5.6 1/8 may be almost optimal for effect as well as detail in stuff that moves, like leaves and things.

I've shot a fair amount of Kodak HIE, even have some rolls left (3). This thread has piqued my interest in the possibility of getting some interesting stuff with near-IR, like you have been able to get. If you have access to foliage like the stuff in your driveway around a body of water, one can often make some really startling pictures.

Mick.

Yep, nicely done. I vote the first one (f/8, 1/4s). I'm inspired enough to grab some of the rolls of SFX and/or IR400 from my fridge and try them out. Now that I'm back at uni, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens is right next door (well, almost). And there's a nice huge lake there. And I've got an 11am-3pm break on Mondays.
That's that sorted then, I'm bringing a camera and tripod to uni next Monday... (now I just gotta decide which one, I could only afford a 67mm filter, which precludes most MF wides).

Hi TruZi

That looks good, Fomapan 400 is cheaper and might only be a stop or two slower, I'd/'ll try it ASAP but we don't get much blue sky with yellow globe here...
We also have trees that fall over in wind, nice blur at 1/4 sec...
