ADOX HR-50 is based on an emulsion commonly available for technical purposes, featuring an ultrafine grain and superpanchromatical sensitization.
ADOX HR-50 is especially suitable for street and landscape photography.
In Portratit photography we recomend our dedicated HR-50 developer.
ADOX modifys this film from the master roll and confections it to 35mm, 120 and sheets (4×5).

The film´s speed is enhanced to 50 ASA using ADOX´s new SPEED BOOST- technology:

The gamma is reduced so it becomes perfectly usable for pictorial photography in regular developers.

ADOX HR-50 can be used as an Infrared film and responds extremely well to any sort of filtration (yellow, orange, red, blue, green).
The new ADOX *SNAP-ON*- Gelatin Filters are a prefect match.

Emulsion: Superpanchromatical
Resolution: Up to 280lp/mm at an image contrast of 1000:1
ISO: 50/17°
Base: 0,1mm PET
Anti Halation: Combined AHU/NC

Excellent news!
I will definitely try this new film!
Thanks Adox for all your efforts!

When will 4x5 be available?

That's beautiful.
Thanks indeed.
At that resolution we need 120 rolls soon.
Price also looks encouraging.

In other words: The film can be shot at a higher ISO without an extended developing time and a resulting high contrast in the darker tones/lower midtones.
All in comparison to unmodified original material.

Or: A film originally intended for technical photography is pre-treated in a way that it becomes usable for regular picture taking&developing whilst keeping its superior resolution and fingreainness.

Better?

That’s great! Do you have a feel for reciprocity characteristics? My photo roots are in astrophotography from long ago so I’m always curious about reciprocity of extended red sensitive films.

Does the cassette have coding for speed on it. One of my cameras reads cassette speed coding and reverts to a default of 100 in the event the information is not there. Not maybe a major disaster as the film speed is 50 but the camera has no means of manual speed setting.

Thanks

None of our films currently have a 50 ASA DX code. We are working on a fix but we don´t have a solution at this moment. The market is still consolidating on the suppliers side and manufacturers of casettes have all gone out of business.
Do you have an override? 100 plus 1 Stop = 50

What about these DX stickers? You do not have them in your offer. Also gone?

These cassettes are still listed both as single- and multiple-use version at AP.

If that is not an option for you a user might respool Adox film into such AP cassette.

I guess it is time to build another shed in Bad Saarow, for cassette manufacture...

Hmm did you check when they updated their site the last time? We bought the last stocks about 5 years ago...

My fault. Yes, I remember having visted their site a few days ago, and those cassettes were gone.
Just before I posted now I checked again and Google brought me to an old page of their site with all these cassetttes listed, but I could not replicate that... weird.

Thanks for the responses and ongoing discussion. There may be relatively few cameras where the speed cannot be set and yes there are "workarounds" but it involves buying sticker codes from the likes of Firstcall. It might be interesting using the default setting of 100 to see how much it adversely affects the negatives.

Reversal Kit news???

I saw a story on Instagram from Adox a few weeks ago that seemed to be showing results of the reversal kit Adox have been talking about on and off for some time now. What I saw looked good. I thought (imagined?) it said the announcement would be the next day but I have not seen anything.

Is it coming, please? Can you tell us any more about it? Will it work with your Super 8 film?

Can I take it that the 120 version hasn't yet arrived and if so is there any schedule for it? The pictures I found of it as an IR film look quite good but it looks as if the filter has to be the equivalent of the Hoya 72 so is this about a 5 stop reduction in speed and about ISO 1.5 or at best 3 similar to the speed of Rollei IR?

Thanks
