Bravo Team Adox! Maybe with the efforts to get 120 up and running again complete, resources will be freed up to pump more film and chems across the board and then across the way to the US.

Retail order of Fotoimpex shipping 10 rolls to the US results in a current $ price of $9.91 including shipping to the East Coast. Not too bad. But that's paying VAT which I thought wasn't something export sales charged? Dunno... maybe it's just something that's refunded or usable as a deduction on US income taxes at the end of the year? That's why and how a US distributor and their experience in importing EU products can come in handy.

Just a short info for photographers in North America: Current feedback of our customers is that with DHL Express the shipping time is normally only 1-2 two days to the East Coast, and 2-4 days to the West Coast.
So first CHS 100 II 120 have already arrived at our customers in NA.

Confirmed by multiple orders with that transit time over the last year.

I've never paid the double-asterisk "including tax l plus shipping" price on orders from FOTOIMPEX. It's always appeared in my shopping cart at the single-asterisk "plus tax l plus shipping" price when my ship-to country is entered at checkout, so no VAT is added, leaving only DHL shipping charges to pay.

Just ordered 10 rolls from the mother ship. Shipping to the States is expensive, but the total still comes out to around $10/roll. Life's too short, and I've been waiting for this film for some time. My treat to myself!

I'm looking forward to 120 CMS 20II. My wish is that ADOX releases larger bottles of Adotech IV at the same time (250ml? 500ml?). While that would still be a relatively expensive developer, reduced packaging cost has the potential to bring down the price. My results with this combination in 35mm are as good as Henning says they are for him.

After reading this

one must ask the following question. Is ADOX going to re-introduce ADOTECH II and/or III, or does that page include a typo as a result of re-using some text from an old CMS 20 file? 🙂

this is almost certainly the old listing, from before the 120 confectioning troubles, ie a time when there was no Adotech IV yet.

when the new batches are back in stock, they will most likely update the listing since it's very unlikely they will bring back the older Adotech versions.

That is one film that I would like to get my clammy hands on!
You and me both Andy! I'd order some if I didnt already spend my paycheque for this period. It gets here within a week too. Maybe you and me should do a shoot off for a video with this film. I have some in 35mm, but havent used it yet. You should get some in 4x5 while you're at it. Its as close to the old Efke 25 as we are going to get, but with slightly bigger grain.

A shootout sounds like fun... as long as you don't lob Timbits at me again!

My 10 rolls CHS 120 have arrived today! Hopefully the weather next weekend is nice, so I can go out and shoot it next weekend.

I think it's more like the Efke 50, but more tolerant for over exposure. Or like inbetween the Efke 50 and 100.

Would it be a big technical step to produce 220 or is it not done more for economical reasons?

It would be both a very big technological and economical challenge to produce 220 format in excellent quality in higher volumes. Technological and economical factors are very closely related to each other.
These problems and challenges are there for all manufacturers, and that is also the reason why Harman technology / Ilford Photo, Kodak, Fujifilm, Foma, Film Ferrania don't produce 220 format.
In the current market situation one 220 film would be significantly more expensive compared to two 120 films. And with such prices the demand for 220 would be much too low.

...We start with our CHS 100 II film. Further film types will follow in the future...

I forgot to add: HR-50 / Scala 50 in 120 would also be very much appreciated. The current Scala development kit would be fine in the size currently offered. Probably the same for HR-developer, although a slightly larger bottle could be considered. However, just adding those films in that size would be more than enough to please me greatly! Thanks for listening.

Thanks for listening.

We are listening, Sal 🙂. We've got a lot of requests for more film types in 120 from our customers.
We will do our best.
But the situation in our industry is currently very complex and challenging. And not all is in our hands, as we are also dependent on suppliers.
And the situation is also very dynamic, so plans you made two months ago for example, could be totally destroyed next month because essential supplies stopped.

Dear photrio community,

as an early Christmas present 😀 ADOX CHS 100 II is available in 120 format again!

Thanks ADOX!
I could not resist 😍:

Considering classic type (non-T-Grain, non Delta-Grain) emulsions CHS 100 II is my favourite in the ISO 100/21° range. I prefer it to FP4+, Kentmere 100 and Fomapan 100 because of its better sharpness and resolution, and I like its specific spectral sensitivity very much.
Another advantage I highly appreciate is its excellent price-performance ratio. You really get very good value.

My favourite developer for CHS 100 II is FX-39 II. It delivers excellent sharpness and resolution with CHS 100 II. And it is very flexible, because by changing the dilution and agitation rhythm you can perfectly change the characteristic curve of the film according to the subject contrast and your needs. It also has a very good storage life.

Best regards,
Henning

Gotta love those plastic film containers! What type of packaging for the rolls? I like the heavy Paper/foil wrap that Ferrania gives their P30 120.

Andrew, the rolls in the film containers have no further packaging. Fortunately, because it is simply not needed. You can just take the roll out of the container and directly load it into your camera, without any waste. I highly appreciate that from an environmental protection point of view, and also for practical reasons.
Reducing our waste, especially from packaging, ist very important (I worked also on that topic as a scientist at University, therefore it is an important point for me).
The containers are extremely robust and close tight perfectly. Therefore perfect protection for the film. Also after exposure! I love this solution when I am out, not working in my studio, but doing landscape, cityscape, portrait and fashion photography outdoors: With films from other manufacturers I have quite a lot of packaging, foils etc. in my camera bag. With these ADOX containers no waste. The films go into the camera, and after exposure just back into the containers. And I have no packaging waste in my bag.

And the containers can be used long-term, for more films.

Best regards,
Henning

Sounds good to me. You'll have to hang on to the containers and use them for other 120 films. Thanks!
