Thank you for your contribution to this forum. I will never do business with Adorama again.

No offense. That is your decision to make. We are each entitled to our own opinion and I respect yours. However, I will continue to do business with Adorama.

I've been around long enough to learn a few things about doing business. The most important rule I ever learned is this one: The customer is not always right, but they always deserve to be treated as if they are right.

The sheer hubris of this person to come here, register on this site, put forth his case, and then state that he will not respond to further information from David except with a threat to reveal private communications in a public forum, proves to me exactly the quality of the person I would be dealing with if I did business with Adorama. No offense to you for your decision to continue to do business with them, but in my opinion the statements made here were arrogrant and distasteful, and speak volumes about the attitude that this vendor has toward its customers.

I simply cannot send my money to a vendor who would threaten to reveal private communications in a public forum. I find this threat to be far beyond anything that I would accept from anyone in a business deal. It's absolutely sickening, and "martinoc" should be ashamed for having made such a threat.

Seeing that you're in a talkative mood, do you have any statement to make on the way your company handles telephone sales and honors published prices?

That's cool. I wouldn't spend my money with such a vendor either but, do we really know that this guy is who he says he is? Better yet, do any of us really know anything for sure about this whole transaction? I submit, we do not know the whole truth. I don't really believe we've heard the full story from either side (and frankly, I do not care to). We do not really know for sure that this person who claims to work for Adorama is actually who he says he is. Even if the person is in fact the actual customer service representative who handled this complaint, as I believe he claimed, his statements may or may not represent the company's position. Maybe he'll be fired next week over this. We don't really even know for certain if the originator of this post actually ordered and received expired film from Adorama....I do not doubt that there is some truth to be found in this thread, but, I seriously doubt that we're getting all of the facts and even if we were, there is really no way for any of us to verify any of this. Heck, one admittedly, extreme and unlikely possibliltiy is that both sides of this story are being played by one person, maybe someone who has an axe to grind with Adorama. Maybe, a direct competitor (OK, I know this is even more unlikely but, makes ya think -- doesn't it?)

Please, let us each base our decision to do, or not to do business with Adorama upon the facts available to each of us. Review your own personal experience, evalute the FACTS available to you. Make your own, rational decision based upon fact, not upon an internet rant.

Personally, I have decided to continue to buy from Adorama because, in a nut shell, all of my personal transactions with Adorama have been completely satisfactory. Sure, they have made mistakes but they've always quickly remedied the situation to my complete satisfaction.

disclaimer: I am not now nor have I even been affiliated in any way with Adorama, its affiliated companies or any of its competitors - except that I am a satisfied customer.

You're absolutely right that we don't know all of the fact here...and the post above may have been a spoof. But in reality I've gotten enough film from Adorama that conveniently has no sign of an expiration date (rolls removed from bulk containers and sent out in zip-loc bags, high-speed film sent in only the plastic canister with no box), and I've always received poor customer service from them that, that although I don't know that Adorama sent David expired film, I suspect very strongly that his statements are true.

Rather than turn this into some simulacrum of a late-night college conversation on the nature of knowledge (you know the kind of thing..."How do we know the universe wasn't just created moments ago with everything that we think of as our memories already implanted in our brains?"), I'll just say that I take David's past APUG posts as proof enough for me that he's being candid with his description of this situation.

I'll also take my own personal experiences with their customer service department as proof enough for me that the above statement actually came from them...it's the type of treatment I've learned to expect from them. Arrogance, hubris, and disdain have been all that I've ever received from their support staff, so the above post rings true to me. I will choose to believe these things, because the basic nature of knowledge is that, when presented with unverifiable information, we must each take in what is presented and compare it to our own personal knowledge and make our own decisions.

Please note, that we have no intention to post coversations that we might have recorded for quality assurance on any website or anyplace else for the public to hear, I don't even know if that conversation with him was recorded, I was just out to make a point, that we did whatever we could to satisfy him, I sent 2 emails to him and he did not have the courtesy of replying, and wanted the public to know that we tried. I want to thank all who posted on this thread, pro or con, as these forums help us improve our customer relations. Happy photography to all. Martino

on a recent trip To N.Y.C I visited katz's deli. my girlfriend was to meet me there.
when I arrived, the bus boy found me in a crowd of about a hundred ,and told me my girlfriend called and she was going to be late. I then went to adorama to buy some film ,and developer. It was right around closing time . In the end I did not get the film or developer.the final word's of the conversation. WHAT DO YOu WANT FROM ME.
well katz,s deli knows that there customer is there life's blood . I will walk 10 block's in a blizzard to give them my money. I understand you are in a competive business
but I think you forgot how to treat a customer with kindness and respect .

I know that this post will run the risk of developing the ire of APUGers, but I would just take the 50 cents and move on. By the way, Adorama is right that expired film generally works great. It's not that big of a deal.

No I'm not affiliated with Adorama. It is just that my brother is a manager at a grocery store. After hearing about the abuse that the public can dish out, I think twice before getting mad.

I used to order from B&H and Adorama all the time and never had a problem. Their telephone service for questions does leave a ton to be desired though. Now I order from JandC because they offer unique products.

This is an old thread, but I just thought I'd mention a good experience with J&C.

I live in Canada. I ordered a bunch of Efke and Foma film to play with a year and a half ago.

The film arrives in about two weeks, which isn't too bad given the distance. The day it arrives, I get an email from J&C saying "We haven't heard from you, wanted to make sure your film got there okay."

I've never had a retailer ask me if my order arrived before.

I'll be ordering from J&C again.
