Great news! Encouraging that they are releasing at roughly the same price as the current street price of Acros I (at least here in Australia). Hopefully we get the sheet sizes too, I guard my remaining 8x10" Acros I like my firstborn...

Sure sounds that way. According to the Google translation of the Fuji press release:

Compared with our conventional product “Neopan 100 ACROS”, the gradation of the highlight area is designed to be sharper and three-dimensional gradation reproduction is possible.

"three-dimensional gradation" WOW, sounds impressive! Have no clue what they are talking about but having been married to an ad agency owner and spending a lot of time with her copywriters I know that press release blurbs, product descriptions should be viewed with a high degree of scepticism. It's their job to make a product sound insanely great!
I well remember the advertising that accompanied the release to TMax back in the '80s. If you were to believe Kodak, if you didn't start using TMax right away you may as well take up knitting. I will be interested to hear apugers opinion of it.
 
Looking forward to it, saw around the Emulsive site or commemts that it should be in other markets (N.America) Spring 2020.
Wish I could get some during christmas to shoot in the Mediterranean.
Interesting that the 120 packaging shown is of a single roll, bearing in mind they dropped that in lieu of propacks.

I noted Kodak's eagerness to show off the fine characteristics of their products. I was surprised that even E100 keeps an "Extremely fine grain" notice which nowadays is a bit redundant as digital has finer grain and many film users actually are in for film's characteristics and some actually seek more grain. TMY and TMZ still keep some buzzwords on the box.
Have quite enough Delta 100 in 120 and a likening to it to not seek the other options, however in 35mm I do. Tried TMX for its fine grain, got flat negatives which means I need to tune myself to it. TriX gave beautiful prints and its grittier look seems sharper due to acutance. TMY is enticing for its hi-tech but have yet to try it... I'd like TMZ in 120.

IMO Ilford packaging is the most classy and minimalistic. Being in Europe their products are well and homogeneously priced.
 
I just saw the release and will try to go to Yodobashi on the 22nd before heading off to Nepal that night (I'll shoot some when I'm there). Hopefully they'll have some in stock at the store and it won't be just through online orders. I'm glad that it's out and am eager to try it, but I have 300+ rolls of the recently discontinued stock to get through first.

Great to hear that I'm not the only one. I have a box that expired in 2000. Still going strong!
 
That's amazing! I would have never thought they'd create a new emulsion so quickly and so on time!! The much maligned Fujifilm is the last battleship afloat, and it has shown that it is still capable of firing a salvo. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the other film makers. I love Adox, my favourite Film warriours, Harman, the best full service b/w boutique, and Kodak for having managed to keep a line going with a few survivours representing probably the best they ever made.

Still, there has been so much hate towards Fuji and my assumption has been that they did what they did to keep a film business afloat inside a large, profitable multinational. No mean feat, and had Kodak had other large profitable business lines like Fuji, I'm sure they would have dropped film a long time ago. Not that film helped them stay alive financially, but weak as they are it may have broken their spirit and would have been terrible PR. (Look! Kodak is gone... because no one would know what else they still do).

Anyway, Fuji is still able to not just make film but has the skill to bring out a new film in only a year or so. I'm wondering if some amazingly dutiful Japanese octogenarians had their hands in this... Now lets see if the Film delivers. :smile:

That would be really nice, Andrew, because TMY-2 has been a significant improvement to TMY. TMY-2 is the benchmark for all other ISO 400/27° films, unsurpassed so far!

But even if Acros II is "only" as good as Acros I, or identical to Acros I, that would also be excellent news. Because Acros has been an outstanding film. With the unique reciprocity characteristic in BW (only Provia 100F having the same unique strength as colour film).
I am really looking forward to test Acros II.

I will not wait until spring, but buying some as soon as possible in Japan :cool:.

Great news.
And I also heard that Ferrania have a limited supply of P30 on sale in selected retail shops in Italy.
Two new B&W films.
A bit like waiting for a bus. Nothing happens for ages then along comes two together.:D
 
Fuji could bring back Kodachrome if they desired to. :smile:. I suspect that the change is due to volume requirements of their former suppliers, the equipment, the importance of maintaining a core product, both for film users, and to the digital approach (i.e. X Pro 3). I don't get the Fujifilm hate, Fujichrome is alive and well, and I bet that the new Acros is a terrific product. Otherwise Fujifilm wouldn't be making it. MHO.

I pre-ordered mine from Yodobashi. Will ship on the 22nd.
