Reciprocity. That's it in a nutshell for me. For that reason alone, it's not replaceable.

I would like to hear from people who have shot every film. Acros, Delta 100, TMX-100, AND other medium speed film. I understand having a favorite film. Mine is TMY in 120. What makes Acros irreplaceable? I don't believe in the spectral response argument. I get spectacular results on Ilford, Kodak and Fuji, haven't tried Foma film, but they make outstanding paper.
I'm praying nothing else fall out. Mostly I worry about Fujichrome, even if Ektachrome comes back.
I'm not making light of this, Acros is amazing.
Rational me says no big deal. Still it's disturbing to see Fuji keep backing out of these wonderful products .
Technically I don't know, I am not a scientist. But, that being said, it is just a film that I have used alot, and it just seems like a crisper image to me. I mostly developed it in Stand Development. I use to buy tons of it. I figured it would be around forever. NOT. I was shocked to hear it was leaving. Now I am just pissed off. But there is nothing anybody can do. It makes me think FILM in general is being phased out and I should slim down my gear or be stuck with a bunch of paperweights. Sure, there is still Kodak and Ilford and a handful of others, but it just makes me think the worst when a manufacturer pulls products.
. I'll just find something else if Acros is discontinued. Plenty of other good films and reciprocity calculators available.

Today Downtown Camera in Toronto has changed the availability of Acros from back ordered to available for in store purchase only. I think that as two Canadian camera stores have recently received new stock it cannot be totally gone. I might have another 40 rolls coming but if not I already had enough for my trip to Scotland prior to the announcement and now have a large enough stock to last me several years or maybe even much longer if I also shoot other emulsions. It is the one film I am going to miss.
You won' be seeing any of my silk on ebay. I did that with HIE after I discovered that I was hardly shooting it. I still have one roll of Technical Pan in 135 and a full but opened box in 4x5 which are also never going to be Re sold.
Best of luck to all those still looking at stocking up for their own use. I just hope I never regret leaving those 75 rolls in Calgary for others to buy.
My wife snagged 50 rolls of 120 in Japan. Hope she remembers to put in her carry on bag!
You mean a single consumer CN film? After all there is Superia 400, Pro 400H, Pro 160NS and in Japan Superia 400 Premium. With only a single B&W film (now gone) and a single speed colour print film its pretty obvious where Fuji is going. Likewise I really fear for the E6 lines.
kumar said he's help people who couldn't find it locally ...Everyone can stock up except those of us in the US.
God damn you Fujifilm!
I can still get Acros 120 and 35mm for anyone who can't find it locally.
