Reciprocity. That's it in a nutshell for me. For that reason alone, it's not replaceable.

Me too. That, and I don't like seeing any film leave the market, regardless of whether I use it or not. Of course there are good alternatives out there, but as Andrew said, the lack of reciprocity factor is something that will be truly missed.

I would like to hear from people who have shot every film. Acros, Delta 100, TMX-100, AND other medium speed film. I understand having a favorite film. Mine is TMY in 120. What makes Acros irreplaceable? I don't believe in the spectral response argument. I get spectacular results on Ilford, Kodak and Fuji, haven't tried Foma film, but they make outstanding paper.
I'm praying nothing else fall out. Mostly I worry about Fujichrome, even if Ektachrome comes back.
I'm not making light of this, Acros is amazing.

Technically I don't know, I am not a scientist. But, that being said, it is just a film that I have used alot, and it just seems like a crisper image to me. I mostly developed it in Stand Development. I use to buy tons of it. I figured it would be around forever. NOT. I was shocked to hear it was leaving. Now I am just pissed off. But there is nothing anybody can do. It makes me think FILM in general is being phased out and I should slim down my gear or be stuck with a bunch of paperweights. Sure, there is still Kodak and Ilford and a handful of others, but it just makes me think the worst when a manufacturer pulls products.

I think we have more choices than when I was a kid. The shops around here carried Panatomic-X, Plus-X, and Tri-X. I don't remember any Agfa or Fuji films at all locally. I remember Agfachrome making a splash in the mid 70's, what we had around here sold with a prepaid mailer. I was very loyal to Kodak. First I got into Fujichrome seriously was when Provia F hit. Still my favorite slide film since Kodak and Agfa bailed out.
Rational me says no big deal. Still it's disturbing to see Fuji keep backing out of these wonderful products .

Well said Greg.

Doesn't appear to be a shortage on ebay. I actually don't love the film but I do shoot it a lot. Scans weird for me but prints well in the darkroom. I'll just find something else if Acros is discontinued. Plenty of other good films and reciprocity calculators available.

That's been something like my attitude...."there's always Ilford with their choice of films". But Ilford is just one company, so that would be "all my eggs in one basket". And, of course, there are the smaller players....Foma, Adox, Ferrania, etc., but they are small businesses and their films are less readily available than the days when Fuji, Agfa and Kodak seemed unassailable.

And we're down to one supplier for E6, even more worrying. New Ektachrome always seems "around-the-next-corner"and Kodak still has its other problems. Ferrania (no offence, and with the best-will-in-the-world) must realistically still be a long way from a viable slide film.

Am I right to feel depressed, or is it just Friday-the-13th gloom ?

Today Downtown Camera in Toronto has changed the availability of Acros from back ordered to available for in store purchase only. I think that as two Canadian camera stores have recently received new stock it cannot be totally gone. I might have another 40 rolls coming but if not I already had enough for my trip to Scotland prior to the announcement and now have a large enough stock to last me several years or maybe even much longer if I also shoot other emulsions. It is the one film I am going to miss.
You won' be seeing any of my silk on ebay. I did that with HIE after I discovered that I was hardly shooting it. I still have one roll of Technical Pan in 135 and a full but opened box in 4x5 which are also never going to be Re sold.
Best of luck to all those still looking at stocking up for their own use. I just hope I never regret leaving those 75 rolls in Calgary for others to buy.

BH is not Wal Mart by any stretch... Theyre just a big NYC B+M store to me. K and M in Tribeca had a small handful in 35mm, might be gone now

i would have found it disturbing 10-12 years ago, now i am just like, yeah, whatever ///
same old same old, profits, shareholders, pruning the tree &C ... im just happy there is film around to use, one goes out i try another and see how that goes
and with ilf's price sheet showing they are gaining in on the price of kodak sheets, its making foma more " looky looks"
sure films won't be the same, but i don't find that to be as important as films being available ... and affordable .
i m not one to freeze or refrigerate because i think it is a hoax and personally think it causes problems to the emulsion or paper
i have found shelf stored in a cool room ( no drastic temp or humidity changes ) is fine ...
and when its gone just use something else and adapt... sure its annoying great stuff is unavailable, but its not the end of the world

I just ordered 25x120 and 30x135. The 120 was unavailable ealier this week, now it was back and I put in a small order. My money currently goes into the next (photo) holiday, so spending close to €400 on this wasn't really in the budget. But this is an emergency and at least I have a small stash, whatever may come.

I expected that there would be more film further up the distribution chain. After all the Oct, 18 estimate by Fuji was, as I understand it, for how long they have product to be shipped. At least after the first wave of hamster buying there should be some restocking possible. As for after the second wave, who knows. Maybe dealers will restock as much as they can, now, and empty out Fuji.

If there will be more availability in the coming months at current or only slightly elevated prices I will try to get more. My freezer is completely full, though. Acros will have to chill at basement temperature. Shouldn't be a problem for an ISO100 b/w film, I'd hope. And who knows who long such stash will last me, anyway.

With only a single B&W film (now gone) and a single speed colour print film its pretty obvious where Fuji is going. Likewise I really fear for the E6 lines.

My wife snagged 50 rolls of 120 in Japan. Hope she remembers to put in her carry on bag!

I've got 50 more rolls myself (split between BIC and Yodobashi), but that's it until payday.

You mean a single consumer CN film? After all there is Superia 400, Pro 400H, Pro 160NS and in Japan Superia 400 Premium.

Everyone can stock up except those of us in the US.

God damn you Fujifilm!
kumar said he's help people who couldn't find it locally ...
might be worth a PM .. and buy as much as you can ..
( i think that is what his local distributer told him to do too )

I can still get Acros 120 and 35mm for anyone who can't find it locally.

kumar prices with shipping cost and eu customs are the same or a bit lower than macodirect.de or fotoimpex.de so I suggest considering his offer

I bought nearly a case of 120 Acros a couple months back. Overstock from a dealer closing, good price. I went to my fridge today thinking I could sell this and make a couple hundred dollars. It occurred to me later, this may be a sign from the film gods. I have Fuji rangefinders from 645 upto 6x17. I think that's a fitting use for this lovely film. Oh and a Bronica, Hasselblad, and RZ67, they all need a steady diet of the good stuff.

I think you should get whatever you need in color as soon as possible, 2020 is coming up and by the look of it, Fuji(exfilm) looks like it will be finished by then.

God damn you Fujifilm!

Keep an eye on fotoimpex, they claim that they will possibly get some more tomorrow:
https://www.fotoimpex.de/shop/filme/fuji-neopan-acros-100-rollfilm-120-einzelner-film.html

They ship to the US.

Buying from overseas is more or less the standard everywhere else, I have no idea how much I have ordered from B&H and other places, things that are either cheaper in the US or not available in EU.

Take into account the shipping-fee, I don't know if you have to pay import charges and VAT.
- When I order anything from abroad, I need to take the total + shipping and add 25% VAT/Tax on top of that + any import-fees by the transport-company.

So it may not always be a win, but often it is (everything is expensive here)
