Thanks for your kind comment. I don't know why or even if the image works; I do like it personally. I was about to capture the photo with just the stairs and no person, but my wife walked on and when I saw here there in the viewfinder everything fell into place.
I also made more or less the same photo but without my wife. Of course that doesn't work, because it lacks my wife. I'm very fond of her, so a photo with her in it will generally be a better one. Obviously.
Oh, it absolutely works so well because your wife's in it. A really strong photo!

Really?! What are they?

They're rose hips. There are roughly speaking to kinds that are common in our part of the world. The ones you found are the more fleshy, elongated kind and I think that's rosa canina; the dog rose. The others are the rounder or even flatter kind, rosa rugosa (Japanese rose). The former is more like most of the hybrid garden varieties that are grown for ornamental purposes; the thorns are 'classic' rose thorns: rather big and spaced at a few cm from each other. The latter is often seen along roadsides etc. and has many more and smaller, spiky thorns (they're a veritable nightmare to handle!) The dog rose tends to fruit prolifically, but the fruit turns soggy rather quickly. The flavor is kind of sweet, whereas the one you found are a little more tangy, and the fruits tend to survive much longer as they are much firmer. Either can be used to make jams (confiture), syrups and whatnot. They're easy to collect, but since they're so full of seeds (both varieties), you need to gather quite a lot of them to get a decent harvest after removing the seeds.

Much obliged! I printed it this morning and my wife walked in as it was just finished; she approved.

And at the risk of a "different photograph" analysis - 😇 :whistling: -, the photograph's strength is very much related to the direction your wife is walking - outwards toward the edge of the frame, rather than inwards toward the top of the stairs.
