When I travelled by ferry from Prince Rupert to Skagway, some time in the 1990s, a young couple came on board, with their kayaks and gear, who had just spent their honeymoon kayaking round the Queen Charlotte Islands. Struck me as a wonderful and enviable thing to do. To take a 4x5 camera in such conditions is elevating things to another level!
My wife paddled a single and I ended up paddling a double kayak. The front cockpit held the 4x5 gear, our rather large Campfire Tent (old style Egyptian cotton Baker style tent) and the day to day food box. The Zone VI 'lightweight' tripod got lashed to the deck behind me.

Circumnavigating Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) by kayak (something we never did) is impressive, especially the west coast sections. Big water with few places to hide!

Very cool, Murray! Makes my 6 months on a bicycle with a 4x5 in New Zealand seem absolutely pedestrian!
