After a 50mm and 100mm now a 35mm wide-angle "Trioplan" has been announced. A 5-element lens.

Likely the End

The german holding company Net SE, who is considered to be behind Meyer Optik, the fake Ihagee GmbH amd more firms has claimed insolvency.

A german magazine reported more than 1 milllion € cashed in Kickstarter fundings for not yet delivered Meyer, Oprema and Goertz lenses.

A Follow Up:

The brand name Mayer-Görlitz Optik has been acquired by a 2 1/2 years old, tiny german start-up, OPC Optics.
To my understanding they are designing industrial optics and have the ability to assemble lenses, but neither manufacture lens-element nor barrels themself.
They offer prototypes and small series.

They intend to take over a few consumer lenses from the late Meyer-Görlitz portfolio which shall then be manufactured in Germany.
(The late Meyer-Görlitz claimed german manufacture, but that turned out to be rather final control.)

They intend to re-compute these designs.

They intend to apply a classic marketing strategy for these lenses.

The new firm has made a long press release on that takeover of Meyer Optik.

Here just an extract, concerning certain two lenses of tghe taken over Meyer portfolio:

"In the course of the analysis of the last available portfolio announced by the previous provider, it was decided to discontinue the model series Somnium and Nocturnus for the time being. As already discussed in the past in various online media, forums, etc., the current Meyer Optik employees realized very quickly that inside the Somnium it was a converted, Russian lens and the Nocturnus was a converted, Chinese lens has acted.

"This is an absolute no-go. As a German manufacturer, who works with the seal of quality "Made in Germany", this is an absolute indictment. These lenses may be quite good on their own, but they contradict the way we produce and market all of our principles, "says Heinze. "Something like that will not happen to us in any way. At the same time, however, we do not exclude that in the future we will publish lenses with a similar character. If we decide to do so, it would of course be about our own developments and our own productions that actually deserve a "Made in Germany" act."

Nothing about the phrase 'circular bokeh' suggests a petzval. More likely they have a lot of aperture blades or they're curved or something, resulting in a near circular aperture.

I often see Petzval lenses described as having "swirly" bokeh, something that's easily observed.

The statement in post #57 is a year old. Let's see what they made out of it.

They said on the link that they will bring Trioplan 100, Trioplan 50, Trioplan 35, Primoplan 75, Primoplan 58 and the Lydith 30. I mean to say this lens seems appealing. Hope they deliver.

Rebranding is well known in other fields, a koin of Ford Sierra was labeled Jaguar in order to get a higher price (no xk6 engine),but Ford did not go broke or collect prepayments only to disappear. The OPC firm , however looks to be serious. Difficult to see how they can make money with second hand stuff so widely available and a small market of enthusiasts.

Meyer products in itheir time were well regarded, but low cost japanese quality and with reunification of Germany, equating the east-mark with the western currency killed off both zeiss Jenas (T,S and Pancolar offerings as well as , KKW( ,Praktica).and IHAGEE(Exacta). Interesting book on Dresden camera industry by dr. Jehmlich (only in Geman) explains dvekopments there since before 1945.and has some paragraphs on Meyer in Gørlitz.

Meanwhile OPC have out more detailed information on their production facility.
They got two CNC lens grinding machines, one of them even gaining to shape free-form surfaces. Thus they can make lens elements, however only one sample at a time.

Now seemingly their chief manager stated in a coment in a german online magazine on their new Mayer Optics Görlitz lenses:

"All lenses are being designed, made and mounted in Germany by OPC Optics.
The optical components are being manufactured at OPC Optics themselves. Supplier parts as mechanical components etc. are being bought from renowned german companies "

OPC has now founded:

Meyer Optik Görlitz GmbH (located in Kreuznach)

just for the marketing of their consumer lenses. However production (and thus most likely design too) will remain at OPC. Nonwithstanding the new Meyer firm is stated to be independent next to OPC. Both firms are now settled under a new OPC holding.

A german enterprise, already marketing german made photo accessories, have announced to revive the brand name "Meyer Optik" and to offer german made lenses under that brand.

I see they offer a wide range of lens mounts.

Even now that the Meyer brand is in hands of this OPC firm, resp. its holding, seems out of fakery, the concept still is discussed here in Germany: selling new lenses of old design for a lot of money.
But as you hinted a the mounts may be interesting, but the M42 mount of old samples can be adapted to modern mounts, more so as many people use mirrorless cameras now.
However their lenses do not even offer an automatic diaphragm.
