a new monobath - hmmmm?

The photo is my setup for doing contact prints, no window in the bathroom so it was easy to make it dark. That's a lot more stuff to take on the road so I don't do it very often. I took the lamp off the hotel desk and added the darkroom bulb. I could make this setup smaller if I didn't use the printer and just used a sheet of glass.

Very smart set up. Whats the grey box for?
I develop film in caravan sites, using a change bag and developing tanks. Nice to check how things went and reshoot if need be before moving on.

Like saman13 said, it's a contact printer. It's made by Brumburger and does up to 5x7 contact prints.

I don't see many of us forum users having need for a monobath but I can see it's uses....that's a nice hotel bathroom setup. Reminds me that some of my first experience developing contact prints from glass plates was sitting in the bottom of my parents' wardrobe with a box of paper, two of mum's roasting dishes (dev and fix)....placing a plate on a sheet of paper, opening the door for a count of ten to expose, then developing and fixing (no stop!) in the roasting trays in the dark, counting to sixty for each step. I was about 8. Actually a monobath would have been better for me!

I've considered developing films while camping, and while it's perfectly feasible I'm not sure what the campsite owners would make of me potentially using chemicals in their sinks. Plus my wife would actually prefer me to bring the films home and spend a day developing rather than doing it on holiday.....which makes sense. If I were travelling solo I'd find it quite relaxing and rewarding to develop a film in a hotel or on a campsite.

THe monobath is a niche product and not one I have any use for now, but I would have as a kid if I'd know such things existed. I bet a few people who want to get into film developing but who are a bit scared making mistakes would give a monobath a go before they felt confident to mix up powder developer and have separate stop and fix bottles.

Thank you. I was impressed with this monobath and will be using it again for a roll of Rollei Retro 80s.

I've been checking in here to see people's impressions of this. I haven't developed my own film in years due to living in an apartment and not wanting to deal with mixing and storing of chemicals. I was excited seeing this announced. I think this is going to push me to pull out my tanks and begin developing my own film again. I like the simplicity of a single chemical process and for the price I can develop 8-16 rolls for what I'm paying a lab to process two.

Hoping to see some reviews of this chemical while I get out and shoot some rolls to have for processing.

I've developed films quite regularly when camping, I've a lot of experience with Monobaths as well but just took my regular dev, stop, & fix. When camping and developing it's not been a chore, I'm probably cooking at the same time, that was normal at home for many years as well then I got married !!!!

Hehe...at home I do sometimes develop and cook at the same time. I'm careful not to add fixer to the soup!
