Are you aware of the costs now, @Sal Santamaura ? No, not Fotoimpex's fault, but DHL shipping would be excessive for this even without that $16 surcharge (shipping equal to the price of the goods for 70 grams or so of actual payload).

As long as this situation exists, it's impractical for me to purchase anything from Fotoimpex.

That's absurd. I never wrote anything of the sort. My replies in this thread are similar to those I post in the endless stream of "Kodak raised prices too high" bitch-fest threads. Costs are what they are. Pay them or don't pay them. But don't ignore the products / other factors involved and discourage anyone who might be able to overcome those costs from paying them.

I've applied for no employment anywhere. I happily retired. And, by the way, if you read this entire thread you'll notice I made negative comments about ADOX's color film adventure, certainly not something a salesperson would do.

Of course. I just posted that an order from FOTOIMPEX to me is "Out for Delivery" today. It, including the DHL shipping charge of 37.65 EUR, was for paid by me. I'll be receiving items (film and slide mounts) that Freestyle has been out of stock of for at least half a year. Knowing the price of all things and the time value of none can be limiting.

"Excessive" as perceived by those accustomed to domestic high-volume merchants who include "free" shipping on orders above a certain dollar threshold that's been negotiated with carriers who garner vociferous "service" complaints from quite a few PHOTRIO posters, perhaps.

Not only was that parcel delivered this afternoon (13 days in transit), FOTOIMPEX apparently responded to my reports about prior shipments. I'd posted at PHOTRIO that the USPS part of the journey included very efficient human/animal/mechanized box crushing capabilities. FOTOIMPEX then stated that it would use more robust packaging for parcels addressed to the U.S.

This time, USPS again managed to depress and partially rip one end of the box. However, when I opened it, there was a second, smaller, taped-shut box inside, entirely surrounded by more packing peanuts. My completely intact products were securely cushioned by additional peanuts therein. Thanks, FOTOIMPEX!

Congratulations, Adox. I thought that I'd never see a completely new color stock entering the market - this is a good indicator for the future of film (to me) - regardless if I shoot color negatives or not.

If it was maskless, they'd have said - it would have a significant impact on those wanting to print it in the darkroom. All C-41 materials are coated on transparent/ clear substrates.

It does not remain the same. In my experience, the shipping cost appears to increment based on total weight of items ordered from FOTOIMPEX.

I need to check again, but I'm nearly certain I didn't see a change in shipping cost going from 2 rolls to 100, which is why I suggested a group buy early on in this thread (or maybe the other one on the same subject, I forget).

EDIT:
No change from 2-10 (won't let me input 100). Going to 50 invokes an additional 2 Euro, so it does increase, but a miniscule amount compared to the whole.

Exactly, my fellow Pentaxian. The timing is excellent right now. Four years ago we didn't have the ridiculous pricing from Fujidak nor the shortages on common consumer 135 film. The time is right for Adox to release their film and the pricing also seems to be more or less ok.

Dear, respected north-american sir, welcome to how the rest of the world buys their stuff. DHL is very quick and reliable, it should be a matter of days, not months. I regularly buy stuff from Japan using DHL and FedEx. (A horrible experience is really buying from the USA using USPS, where the "Priority" in "International Priority" seems to be a joke)

As for the costs, of course buying only 1 roll is going to be ridiculously expensive. That's why here in the rest of the world one buys at least 10 or 20+ rolls in an order so sihpping costs are a smaller percentage of the item cost.

I understand you want to try the film and thus want only one roll. And yes, for this target perhaps it would be good if ADOX has some sort of deal with a major USA distributor.

Except now they're charging more than US$60 to get a couple rolls of film from Berlin into US Postal System. Recent report is this is taking less than two weeks now, but that cost is excessive.

I've read that Fotoimpex is working on this, but at the corporate level, it's not as simple as going to the UPS Store instead of FedEx Kinko's (or vice versa) to ship the orders. Worse, I think I recall that there are limited options just to get international shipment out of Germany.
