I hope ADOX will have enough tailwind to establish a robust colorfilm business, but the whole wording around this particular film sounds like something that wasn't ready for prime time, but is put out anyway to cut losses.
In the light of all the sub-standard film sold by the endless number of "experimental" brands, I guess it doesn't seem as bad as it could, especially if the profits really go towards production of quality film.
Or that it got stuck in a legal situation that has only been finally resolved in the last few days (c.f. Inoviscoat/ Orwo announcement). If that is the case, Adox's Bad Saarow machine has the same type of coating head. 4-5 years is a reasonable timescale for building a product of this complexity from start to finish.
I'd hope that we might see this intermediate product in other formats, but that'll likely depend in whether it was coated on anything other than regular 135 base.
