I hope ADOX will have enough tailwind to establish a robust colorfilm business, but the whole wording around this particular film sounds like something that wasn't ready for prime time, but is put out anyway to cut losses.
In the light of all the sub-standard film sold by the endless number of "experimental" brands, I guess it doesn't seem as bad as it could, especially if the profits really go towards production of quality film.

Or that it got stuck in a legal situation that has only been finally resolved in the last few days (c.f. Inoviscoat/ Orwo announcement). If that is the case, Adox's Bad Saarow machine has the same type of coating head. 4-5 years is a reasonable timescale for building a product of this complexity from start to finish.

I'd hope that we might see this intermediate product in other formats, but that'll likely depend in whether it was coated on anything other than regular 135 base.

I have absolutely no involvement with color film any more. This project will do nothing for me, since my film photography is 100% black and white. Color is "owned" by digital today.

ADOX would, in my opinion, better apply its resources toward returning MCC-110 to production (with a surface finish like the one found on Bergger semi-glossy) as well as bringing to market a regularly available 400-speed sheet film to fill the gap left by always-out-of-stock Bergger Pancro 400.

Delighted to hear the good news from Adox. They are honest and up front about the product and their expectations, not something you see that often with other well-known brands.

Well done Adox.:D and I wish them the best of luck.
More importantly, I will put my money where my mouth is and buy some film.

Incredible news! I'll buy one of two rolls to support this wonderful cause. Probably even more rolls in the future since I quite like the photos shown.

I wish you good luck Adox

Or that it got stuck in a legal situation that has only been finally resolved in the last few days (c.f. Inoviscoat/ Orwo announcement)

Given the timing of the release and limited choice of manufacturers with the know how, this does seem the most likely scenario. Additionally , Orwo / inoviscoat are also promising a colour film later this year, which ‘reading between the lines’ of the respective announcements suggests it could be a rather similar one.

That prospect, plus current colour film scarcity and pricing reaching levels that could make the investment worthwhile, make it an opportune moment to release it. We do need more diversity of supply of colour film if the medium is to survive long term, so overall its welcome news, and appreciate adoxs commitment, although im sure there will be a few challenges along the way.

I'd love to try it.

If for no better reason than to keep Adox headed toward a new film stock in a few years, but also for the different color palate. Anyone investing in new film manufacture is a good thing, in my view.

Hopefully it'll be interesting film, too.

Any word on domestic distribution within the US? I'd be willing to buy a few rolls at their price, but not with adding 37Euro on top of that. That shipping, which costs more than several rolls of film, is money Adox isn't getting for their future endeavors. It cuts into what *I* am willing to spend on the film (ie I'd buy more if shipping were reasonable).

Barring US-based distribution, maybe a group buy would be doable? It appears the shipping charge doesn't change with increases in the number of rolls.

It's out of stock already.

I hope Adox can explain what the strategy is for this film. They said that there is plenty of this stock to last at least several years. Probably a problem of converting/packaging of the film? I really hope this isn't another colour film that is in stock for a few hours and then not available for months.

In the past year or two ordering film and consumables became a test in patience. And extra so if you don't want to pay shipping costs for every single item that's in stock at the moment and know it won't be in stock when another item you also want is back in stock.

Oh, well, at least there is an interest in colour film...

It was designated at their webshop this way already at the moment of statement. Where it was said that sales would start the 10th.

This is confusing, but this is the way they run their webshop, which got a lot of other issues and seemingly is not well maintained.

It was available for purchase yesterday evening. I placed it into my cart but wanted to finalize the purchase this morning...

COLOR MISSION UPDATES

Dear friends, the release of our new color film went wild!
We did not expect such an immediate massive reaction, with hundreds of orders from all over the world coming in in just a few hours.
The sales were supposed to start tomorrow, and the film was available for pre-order. Those who pre-ordered first, will have their films shipped starting tomorrow, the first sales day.

Right now, you can still pre-order Color Mission on Fotoimpex.com, and you will be getting the films from the next production / film converting.
We are really shocked and thrilled at this success, and organizing our team to release more films as soon as possible.

The ADOX and Fotoimpex teams are saying a huge THANK YOU for your trust and support!

37 euro for shipping 2 rolls of film! Hmmm.
Think I'll wait a bit.

Hence why I was asking if/when it would be available from Freestyle.

Seems I was told it wouldn't be, so I'm going to have to pass on this. I'd love to try Adox products, but I'm not going to pay DHL to take months to get them to me.

These are my sentiments also.
Running low on my stash of MCC-110 to the point where I am reluctant to use it on 'just anything'.
I know the reasons production came to a halt on the paper and I know they're working on PolyWarmtone.

When I run out of MCC-110 and I end up switching to either Ilford Warmtone or Foma, I won't go back to Adox - it's too disruptive and costly to me. Some of us need a reliable supply of the same materials to carry out large projects, etc.

...I'm not going to pay DHL to take months to get them to me.
That's old news. The last time I received a parcel from FOTOIMPEX it took exactly two weeks (well, plus one day, but there was a postal holiday wrapped in, so call it two weeks) from Bad Saarow to my door. According to USPS tracking, another FOTOIMPEX order of mine is currently "Out for Delivery." Assuming it arrives today, that will have taken 13 days from Bad Saarow to my door.

Let's not discourage anyone from supporting ADOX/FOTOIMPEX. Expedited shipping costs more, but sure beats large fractions of a year waiting for ship transport to deliver products via Freestyle. And Freestyle doesn't carry everything that FOTOIMPEX makes available either.

I have no problem with the shipping time, but the 16 Euro penalty attached to a 21 Euro shipping bill is just too much for 2 rolls of film.

Yes, the seller has no control over that, I understand, but it still doesn't make it economically viable either.

Perhaps ADOX could ship a small block of their inventory over to a reseller and bump up the price; I'd be willing to pay over retail in the USA if that could be accommodated, but not double the price...

Exciting news, hopefully a UK shop can stock the film as Brexit induced bureaucratic costs have imposed huge minimum order requirements at Fotoimpex for the UK.

Okay, the DHL delay problem is fixed -- but the combination of shipping and import costs isn't. I can get a couple kilos of camera from Japan or Former Soviet Union regions for less cost and in similar time to getting a small number of film from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. And when the shipping is much more than the cost of the goods, I'm discouraged.

I'm unaware of any "import costs" for products shipped by FOTOIMPEX to the U.S. Nor does FOTOIMPEX sell those cameras you're referring to, as far as I'm aware.

I can purchase any number of foodstuffs in my local supermarket for less than the cost of DHL/USPS shipping from FOTOIMPEX. That's not relevant either.

So, Sal, it sounds like you're telling me I need to buy this product and pay for shipping from another continent, that it's my duty to do so, since you're apparently convinced that any objection I might have is unfounded and disingenuous.

Have you applied for a sales position with Fotoimpex?

Here's the problem...

Don't get me wrong, I really want to try out this film, but will risk the possibility of missing out until it makes a bit more economic sense...

Same here. At a reasonable shipping cost, I'd buy 2-5 rolls just based on the pics I've seen. But, I'm not paying $42 (at current exchange rates) for shipping.
