Hi Chris,
Jason and Max are doing the assembly in the US, then sending batches of completed lenses to me, for packaging/distribution within Europe. They're also keeping a batch of lenses in the US for distribution there. Unfortunately, global shipping prices have increased considerably over the last 6-8 months, so this is the most efficient way for us to ship globally.

I started assembling the inner lens assembly last night, and built the first 20. I've built another 30 tonight.
Earlier today, I took one and mounted it in my hack-job 3D printed adapter for my Nikon D810. I had to shoot in live mode to keep the mirror up out of the way, but I was able to capture some images around the house.
The main housing will be arriving in a few more weeks. Then, I will be able to mount these in the housing, set for best focus, and then Steve will make them available for sale. I think he is considering taking preorders, but that'll be up to him.
Apertures are blackened brass
This bush was 2 feet away from the camera.
Note the lack of any distortion. The pole is straight as a, well, pole.

Nice to see that straight objects aren't bent.
Your sample photos are square, but the sensor in the Nikon D810 is 24x36. Could you post entire frames? I believe this lens was designed to cover 24x24 (for the Cube), but it would be interesting to see what's happening in the rest of the frame. Probably blur and vignetting, but that'll make it more artsy.

Steve has posted some full frame images off his camera. I didn’t post any of the D810 because the hack job F-mount misleadingly vignettes, clipping the corners in a way that the M39 mount wouldn’t. (The cone angle from the optics to the f-mount is narrower than the diagonal FOV of the lens).
I have a Nikon Z7 and all the correct adapters, so if you want me to provide samples I’d be happy to do so. As well as Fuji xpro3 and Leica Ms.
A missive from Chroma to their email list members announcing four new products, of which this lens is one, appeared in my in-box about an hour ago. The email says these new products will appear on the (revamped) Chroma website tomorrow. It also provides a link to order the lens

I hope you plan to sell this as a part for other to use/integrate! I have been working on a simple body for Mamiya digital backs, and wanted a shutter solution for backs without an e-shutter (most of them…) I also looked at pi-cell shutters but that did seem limiting for the reasons you mentioned.

Main housings are on their way. Once in-hand, I will install the inner barrel assembly, set focus, and then they will ship out to those who pre-ordered. Should be on schedule.

The line is short.. the first 75 are spoken for and currently being built to ship this month (we’re trying to get them to their owners before Christmas) . Beyond that will go out starting early January.
