I had to fall back on my American Indian heritage and threaten them
with international attention over their lack of religious freedom...
just to get a 12 hour pass!
Eventually I did get in... but even that was with the stipulation that I "hide" my hair from the people of Singapore!
I still remember their answer to my question "WHY?"
They said "What would happen to our people (citizens) if they saw your hair?
My mouth fell open in disbelief. but eventually said, "I don't know, gain an open mind and learn tolerance perhaps?"
Truth is stranger than fiction....
The last time I was there there, hair length was no longer an issue.
