A couple of hours downtown Boston

My plans changed slightly and I'll have a couple of hours to spend downtown before taking bus from South Station to Logan. I won't have luggage, so will be reasonably mobile. I've got my 120 folder and one roll of Tri-X left. Any suggestions?

So which neighborhood do you suggest? According to the map, I can walk east to Chinatown and Leather District, East to Seaport, North to Financial District, Downtown, and maybe as far as North End. (Though it may be raining.)

I could range further if I take the subway.

I know there's not enough time to do them all.

There are a couple of different tour buses that give you a chance to get off and on in various spots, not sure if they have stops at S Station. But, you could ride around until your time budget is up then pick up a taxi to Logan.
A little thinking off the top of my head here...
Though Boston is generally walking friendly, the area around South station isn't so much, and the financial district which is what is right around there isn't so interesting (IMHO).

Anther possibiity might be to get the subway to someplace like the downtown crossing stop, that would get you closer to some of the interesting areas for walking. You'd be able to pick up some of the Freedom Trail and catch a few of the landmark buildings and graveyards where some notables are buried.
You could also stroll around Beacon Hill which has some good photographic possibilities (not to say that the rest of town doesn't).

I'm sure some of the other North Easter's will chime in.

If it's raining there's aways some of the museums, or the Navy Yard and the USS Constitution perhaps.
The aquarium is not very far from South Station, as I recall.

OTH, 2 hours is not much time, how much it really is depends on your flight time, it can take 15 minutes to get from downtown to Logan or it can take an hour +

Another idea... take a walk from S station and catch the water taxi to Logan.

For people, I would go to Chinatown. You can do Boston common for some "stock" Boston shots, and the waterfront may be busy, but mostly commercial traffic, not too much else.

I'd look into the water taxi if it isn't raining - http://www.massport.com/logan-airport/Pages/WaterTransport.aspx . There are some good views of the city as you go out towards Logan. You could also walk north along Atlantic Ave and check out the Rowes Wharf area. There are some cool buildings and sometimes good scenes of boats. Going out towards Fan Pier and the Boston World Trade, isn't there a museum out there now? (sorry, been a couple of years now )

Just hang around the greenway...(near the station) if you like architecture. Broad Street, Milk, Atlantic Ave (& look back to the taller buildings) and don't forget the Customs Tower.

How about Beacon Hill? Lots of nice, very old buildings and quaint streets and alleys. It's near the Charles and not too far from Government Center and Park Street, the Boston Common, etc.
